In case anyone needs context, an individual on a flight was dragged out of his seat because nobody volunteered to get off an overbooked flight. Links from New York Times and National Public Radio, respectively.

Link 1 Link 2

(I first commented this under someone's comment asking for context, so sorry if it's not cool to double-post but I thought this way people wouldn't have to scroll all the way to see context)

I'm betting this is going to be deleted, as it should be.

Edit- to those saying this is just her dark sense of humor. I'm all for dark humor when done appropriately or as a means to a worthwhile end, but watching this incident just an hour ago made my skin crawl. Dark humor is done best when it's to bring light to an often forgotten issue or to bring laughter to those that might be grieving, this just feels like her cashing in on today's viral tragic/disturbing news story in a way that isn't even particularly funny, just exploitative.

Funny would be lampooning the airline and there's other dark humor to be had there.

[–]OhCometsSasha Velour 1

Agreed. She chose the wrong target and essentially picked the lowest hanging fruit of jokes there were to be had.

Also ps- delete your five extra replys :)

I don't even think it's a joke. Like the whole joke is that Trixie was cheering on the security guard dragging the man out plus a Laganja gif? I know she intended it as a joke, but there's nothing funny about it. There have been so many hilarious Twitter jokes aimed at the airline so it's not an untouchable topic

yeah, das my point. it's not funny. just like how she should have edited those chopsticks out of her green runway, this needed editing. not every joke needs to be heard, but that's moreso a unfortunate side-effect of oversharing and soc. media

Raven posted the scene from Airplane! when the lady has a panic attack, which in my opinion is in better taste because it makes fun of the airline directly, but yeah, it's humor, it's relative. Lots of queens have made awful jokes too soon. I don't find it funny, but some people do.

Edit: so this is her humor? that aint right. cancelled. next.

Trixie makes some "choices" in her Twitter jokes lol. I feel like she should save them for her show where nobody gonna judge because they paid to see her anyway.

Yea like... this is really distasteful even if she was joking

she's just stupid and makes dumb jokes like this all the time. She's not supporting anything but buffoonery and fuckery.

She's not supporting the beating of that man jfc. She's been making jokes about people (specifically young gay boys) overusing certain phrases for ages and thought it would be a fun poke at that kind of behaviour by contrasting it with a really serious matter - according to the responses, she thought wrong, but still, it doesn't make her evil or "a bad person".

[–]Shazam08Nina Bo'nina Brown -3

She has a really dark sense of humor. The bitch jokes about being beat as a child. This isn't even that bad for her

There's a video that's going viral right now of a doctor being violently dragged off his seat that he paid for by United Airlines on one of their flights bc they were overbooked and need extra seats for their staff. They offered money and a free night in a hotel for people who would give up their seat but no one took up the offer so they randomly picked people to remove from the plane. The guy in the video is a doctor who needed to be home/at his hospital the next day so he refused to get off the plane. United then summoned security who dragged him off his seat while he's screaming, hit his head on the armrest and dragged him out by his arms while he's unconscious. This happened like yesterday.

That's what Trixie was joking about here.

Honestly, I think it's just her dark sense of humour. She posted a risky tweet and may regret it.

Even if the subject is a bit raw, drag queens make dark jokes all the time? Nina Bo'Nina literally said Osama Bin Laden within ten seconds of walking into the work room, and Divine ate shit off a pavement. If you're looking for good-natured comedy then go watch daytime tv, not drag artists

Honestly though.... Bianca gets up on stage and rips people to shreds over literally EVERYTHING and we applaude and cheer for her... I love her comedy honestly. But it is "edgy" and could trigger nearly everyone

I read a comment on this sub once to the effect of 'if you're worried about being offended then stay away from drag' and it's honestly so true, I always think of that

Look, I get it, it's dark. It's too soon. But at the end of the day, it's a joke. Why is it that we're all ok with all types of "dark jokes" regarding everything from 9/11 (where 3000 people died) to suicide bombings in shows like Family Guy and Comedy specials on Netflix... but we're all up in arms over a joke about something that happened today but resulted in no deaths. The guy was assualted and was bleeding and hurt very badly, but he will live. He will be ok. I might be fucked up, but I chuckled when I saw he tweet. Didn't realize how sensitive people can be. I understand the sentiment behind telling her to delete the tweet, or saying she should've waited... but the people accusing her of being ok with police brutality make my skin crawl

You should never accept bad behavior, even if it's from your favorite.

You really shouldn't. It's not acceptable just because it's from a drag queen.

I have a very, very dark sense of humour myself (I wouldn't be able to enjoy drag otherwise) but I have my limits, and her joke is one of them.

I saw Charlie on Friday and I laughed so much during the entire show my throat actually hurt. That should give you an idea as to how dark my sense of humour is.

I agree. I've been agreeing. IM FEELING VERY ATTACKED RIGHT NOW!

Why shouldn't I?

It is the T but I thank you for your concern.

It says a lot more about you laughing at this shit "humor" than the people who aren't okay with it

Oh please, gurl. Drag Race queens have made far more controversial jokes than this that you've probably laughed at yourself. Most of you are acting like hypocrites. Were you this butthurt when Detox made the ground zero joke referencing 9/11 in the Rupaul Roast? And people actually died from that. There is a way to make dark humor work, but really the only mistake Trixie made was doing it so soon. But stop acting like she's a terrible person for trying to make a controversial joke that didn't work. It happens to comedians all the time, and Trixie's intentions obviously weren't bad.

Even if you don't specifically, my point is queens get away with far "worse" jokes on a regular basis. Stop making it out to be bigger than it is. She tried to go for a joke that was just too soon and thus not received well.

and I bet you laugh when Bianca gets up on stage and calls out "the cripple" and the "faggots". Look, it's dark. I'm not condoning what happened, I chuckled at a joke. I didn't stand up with a sign cheering on the beating of a defenseless passenger. I'm just not here for people getting their panties in a bunch over a stupid joke. I agree that it was tasteless, but I'm not gunna deny that if it were said a week from now most people would be replying "YASSSSSS LMAO LMAO LMAO YASS TRACY" cause it's a joke. It was just said at a really inappropriate time.

NOBODY would respond with YASSS LMAO a week or a month from now. And I don't even follow Bianca's career because she's not my cup of T! So don't deflect just because you wanna sit here and really defend shitty humor. That's on you

You know that's not true.... somebody would. And I'm not deflecting. I'm responding. And it's true, Bianca isn't everybody's cup of T cause her humor and personality are "edgy". Just so it's clear, I'm not coming for you or trying to deflect and attack you or anything if that was the impression you got. At the end of the day, I said I chuckled at a joke, I don't understand why people are mad at Her but not the other hundreds of people making jokes on twitter. If we're gunna be mad and offended at something, it should be towards her and everyone posting these jokes on the twitter story thing (I honestly don't know what It's called). And girl, boy, man, sir, whatever, I just came here with an opinion, and had to say something cause I don't think the tweet is really as bad as we're all making it out to be. It was tasteless. Probably used because it's the thing that everyone's talking about. And it should be deleted. I'm just saying that I don't think it would be received as negatively if it had come at a later time. Which I think is true.

I also wanna point out that other people are making jokes about it and people aren't as up in arms about it....

[–]OhCometsSasha Velour 4

To be fair we're a drag race centric sub, the only people we're focusing on is the relatively small sphere of rugirls and drag race adjacent people. I haven't seen anyone else making jokes about this, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like this joke no matter who made it.

That's true. I just keep seeing jokes on twitter about the incident... from people showing fake seating charts that say "fight club" to showing people falling from the plane with the caption "re-accommodation". As far as drag queens though, I'm 90% sure she's the only one that has made a joke about it

Oh ffs. It's a joke. She probably should've waited a bit, but most of you are acting like she's supporting what happened. She took a risk with a controversial joke, and it didn't work--it's something that happens all the time to comedians. What United Airlines did to that man was disgusting, but at the end of the day, no one died, United has been rightfully called out for it immediately, and hopefully there will be justice. Trixie making a joke about United's terrible behavior isn't "endorsing it," and she isn't making fun of the man--she's pointing out the absurdity of United's actions with dark humor. Dark humor that isn't even that fucking bad by the way considering people make 9/11 jokes work. If you think this is "too far" for dark humor, I don't think you know what dark humor even is. Her doing it so soon could be in poor taste, yes, but it's obvious her intentions weren't malicious, so the witch hunt over it is a bit extra.
