Right. It amazes me how people turn this brain dead simple gig into a complex calculus problem. Don't forget. It's just fucking food. If something isn't quite matching up, just do what you think is best, and move on.

Don't skip orders or you will get penalised (less pings). Just let the bell rinng. This is a big deal. I was pretty nervous my first day working and I skipped like 5 orders in a row, then a survery popped up asking for specifics about why I skipped. then it seemed like I was getting pinged less often.

Carry a roll of masking tape. Seal those brown paper bags, which helps keep the heat in and looks more professional. Tape all drink lids so they don't accidentally pop off, and liquid doesn't spill out of the little holes in the top. Also always remember straws, napkins, ketchup, etc.

I'm amazed at how many couriers I see who don't carry a hot/cold bag. Very unprofessional.

I like the tape idea but I would make sure it's white or black and not blue. Also idk about taping customers lids though, might look odd.

I've been taping lids/bags for months, and customers seem appreciative that I take the extra effort to make sure nothing spills and their food arrives warm. Also as a biker, it's harder to keep things warm compared to a car, and it's easier to accidentally spill drinks on a bike even with a drink carrier.

Well I don't always use the cold bag they gave us because I hate it's design. Its very inneficient and too small. It needs to either magnetic or Velcro not a zipper and be fold over. Plus it should be large enough to hold a full size pizza

I go and buy boxes of 50 Andes mints $1 at the dollar store and toss a handful of those in each order.

Also a stapler is quicker than masking tape.

I use the hot/cold bag, but it sucks. I put my own food in there one day to see if it made a difference. The steam made my French fries get soggy and gross. I only live one mile from the place I ordered from. I use my best judgement as far as the type of food and distance I'm going. I will always deliver at the doorstep with the bag, but I don't always put the food in it while driving.

What do you mean just let the bell ring? Don't accept or decline?

[–]RickyShadeOrange County CA 0

Yes. And don't even LET the bell ring, you can turn the bell off by hitting the power button on your phone.

Places are so weird about accepting deliveries lol. Grubhub guarantees you $12 an hour if you accept 75% or more of the deliveries, so to not hurt your rate even if you don't want one, you learn to accept it, and then call them and have them unassign it.

I think you are over thinking the situation. People just want their food correct, up right and delivered right to their door.. tipping has little to do with service... 99.5 percent of people already know what they are tipping before you deliver the order... people like you over examining postmates is why i prefer the KISS on GH and UE. Keep in simple stupid..

What are you even saying? Who was talking about postmates emails?

Idk lol. Just drop it.. i like UE and GH more anyway. These pending tips, stiffs (more than I've ever seen) searching isles and 1-5 stupid rating system. I'll stay active but delivering crackers and coke from cvs for $5.10 and delivering toilet paper for $6? Hmm idk Man. Ill wait until I can get the blitz pricing to deal with postmates deficiencies . Did you read the post about the 4.9 courier who was deactivated since he got like 2 2 stars in a week? That's filth

.6. No fry tax 🤐

Yesterday I gave my driver a two star and $0 tip for

A) ignoring my instructions to call upon arrival B) not carrying my food in the hot bag.

Call upon arrival I can understand, Generally speaking as a courier when a customer requests call upon arrival it makes my life easier so why wouldn't I? The hot bag though, depending on the type of food / distance from the restaurant, him delivering your food without the hot bag could have saved you from a soggy mushy experience. The basic hot bag will keep the food a few degrees warmer, at the expense of taste and texture. I generally put the food in the hot bag, but leave it unzipped as that protects it from any of my cars AC hitting the bag directly. (providing it fits [on this note, an increasing number of restaurants are using their own oversized bags... Red Robin and Ruby's I'm looking at you O_O ])

not carrying my food in the hot bag

So the food was not warm?

Not as warm as it could have been.

You potentially risked the job of a man trying to feed his kids. You are a sick human being

Dude, fuck you.

And it was a young college age girl named Olivia

Wow that's terrible of you . 1) many couriers take the food out of the bag when they deliver so the food does not bounce around in the bag and potentially spill all over the place when they are walking up your stairs ect. 2) the app instructions the courier sees are often non up to date and wrong.. what the courier sees and what you see is probably not right. For example I get orders all the time that are not even close to being accurate or the dropnoff instructions say like leave at pool lobby and then they tell me when I call that they can't up date that info. Good luck surviving the negative karma coming your way

Hey thanks for telling me how terrible I am. I'm a courier with almost 4000 deliveries and I know how this shit is supposed to work. As long as the food fits, I wouldn't dream of not using the bag.

And as for the not calling, every other courier I've had has been able to follow that instruction with no issue.

A tip is a reward for a job well done, and imo, the job was not well done. I'm not some snotty fuck face like your average postmates customer. I tip when it's earned, and generously at that.

I've delivered 20,000 orders and no one besides you tips for job well done horse shit you are talking about. 99.5-99.9 already know what they are tipping. If you took your job seriously you wouldn't use that stupid postmates bag that does not do crap. I use a heavy duty bag where I know there is not a chance of the order bouncing around or moving when you put your brakes on. I even put a pizza bag in the courier bag so the food does not move. Especially with soup.

Like I said, karma will be coming your way and it won't be pretty. Good luck when it happens.

Wow, you are truly a fuck wit.

Yeah my karma is fucked for using the system in an appropriate fashion.

I've been called entitled on here before, but you take the cake on that one.

Hope you feel good about yourself when a middle aged Man with 3 kids is deactivated for your petty and unacceptable standards. I would not be able to sleep at night with your type of hideous behavior

Dude, are you fucking serious with this shit? How fucking dense are you?

Dude it's not my negative karma and it's not my ability to sleep at night. Do you and I'll Do me. I already un subscribed from postmates emails. I could care less about entitled fucks like you you who don't like my beard or what shorts I'm wearing. I've taken so many orders that I know I'm a a great courier and my investments prove that. I don't need some stupid ass email telling me what I am and what I'm not.

Dude I'M A FUCKING COURIER WHO DELIVERS ABOUT 200 ORDERS FOR EVERY ONE ORDER I I HAVE DELIVERED TO MYSELF. DO YOU THINK I WOULD ACTUALLY UNFAIRLY RATE A FELLOW COURIER LIKE THE AVERAGE NON-COURIER CUSTOMER WOULD?

I KNOW HOW THIS JOB IS DONE AND I KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO THRIVE IN IT. WORKING BOTH SIDES I HAVE SEEN IT ALL. I COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT WHAT THE DRIVER IS WEARING OR HOW THEY GROOM THEIR FACIAL HAIR. IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS LEFT BY THE CUSTOMER, AND YOU CAN'T USE THE PROTECTIVE BAG SUPPLIED TO YOU FREE OF CHARGE BY POSTMATES, THEN YOU HAVE NOT EARNED YOUR EXTRA "TIP", AND YOU HAVE NOT EARED A HIGH RATING. LOGICAL, ISN'T IT?
