McCain: Rand Paul ‘Doesn’t Have Any Real Influence’ in the Senate

It won’t surprise you to learn that John McCain and Rand Paul don’t see eye-to-eye on foreign policy. But in expressing that disagreement on CNN this afternoon, McCain took a bit of a personal shot at his Senate colleague.

McCain has applauded President Trump for taking action in Syria, but Paul said in a statement, “The President needs congressional authorization for military action as required by the Constitution, and I call on him to come to Congress for a proper debate. Our prior interventions in this region have done nothing to make us safer.”

McCain responded by telling Wolf Blitzer, “I don’t really react to Senator Paul. We’re just too different, and he doesn’t have any real influence in the United States Senate.”
