Most of us here have to own our shit. There is no safety net. Especially divorced, child support, post child support college, etc. etc. etc. if you have kids. You might be feeling a bit down and out because you are bored.

I have a suggestion. You might not be focusing on your major base of the Hierarchy of Needs. You need to work harder. But only for the benefit of yourself. I suggest maybe a side-gig. Something you've always wanted to do, that you can throw yourself into. In addition to your regular 9-5. I do this. Done it for over two years now. The more I worked between those two gigs, the more I appreciated my hobbies, and my down time. But your second gig needs to be something that you are passionate about or interested in. But different from your 9-5. I would recommend one being physical, one being less physical. Balance the two. One involving people and social skills, one more low key. Every minute you spend in that second gig is reinforcement into your security - your pyramid base of the Hierarchy of Needs.

The added work and time from the second gig will make all of your moments in your so-called Etch-a-Sketch life so much more valuable.

Example. Thing I really hate? Sitting around watching a marathon of some series on Netflix. Thing I really love? After a first shift starting at 7:00 a.m., to a next shift sending me home at 10:30 p.m. to two to three beers, and one show, focused, and tired, and to just wind down with. I love the show, love the wind down. But I sure as hell am not bored.

I could go on and on and on about what to do, outside of work. But for me, my second job is my hobby. It's my "work out." And every minute spent is money in the bank, and exercise in the body.

Just some thoughts.
