We shouldn't really. But I just do, because I hate looking over at another club who may have a much better player on half the money. It makes us look somewhat incompetent even though I know the logistics are more complicated than that.

Few reasons. You fill your team with average on high wages that are incredibly hard to get rid of. For some reason people forget that we don't have a bottomless pit of money and it may come to the point where we can't buy certain players because of that.

It also means the team gets filled with players that are here for solely money reasons and I don't want that.

If you're talking specifically about Lingard it's not the amount he earns that bothers me. It just worries me that if Woodward negotiated a 75-100k a week contract for a player of Lingard's level then he musn't be that great of a negotiator which could backfire in the summer going for a top player.

Just because the money is there doesn't mean we should overspend. Same with committing relatively large amounts to squad players. There's no need to. Our squad players shouldn't be making more than some of the best players in the league. Someone like Harry Kane is on just a bit more than Lingard, same with other decent players.

Spending large amounts is fine, if it means securing class talent like Pogba or for instance someone like Griezmann in the future. That's when it's needed and should be utilised.

It also makes it harder to get decent prices for outgoing players. It's been one of the main issues the past few years when it could be minimised if we were just more tighter with wages.

A lot won't care but to me it just comes down to there not being a need to always pay exorbitant amounts so why should we. Other big clubs with similar revenue and clout don't so nor should we.

I care sometimes because I want to see the high-earners care... as seen on the pitch, on the bench, or in the media.

It sets a precedent that we overpay on wages and that makes it hard when it comes to negotiating contracts, and also makes it harder for us to sell players who are underperforming because nobody else pays wages as high as us.
Not to mention the fact that it's embarrassing when compared to other clubs that we're competing against. For our total wage bill we are performing way under expectations.
Also, if we drop out of CL and our Adidas revenue falls, then money does become more of an issue.

Idiots still trying to excuse a mediocre player receiving more than the likes of Martial and Valencia.

I don't.

This exactly. It's not my money and it doesn't make a significant change in the clubs bottom line. Let them earn as much as they can
