The Syrian Gas Attack Persuasion

According to the mainstream media – that has been wrong about almost everything for a solid 18 months in a row – the Syrian government allegedly bombed its own people with a nerve agent
The reason the Assad government would bomb its own people with a nerve agent right now is obvious. Syrian President Assad – who has been fighting for his life for several years, and is only lately feeling safer – suddenly decided to commit suicide-by-Trump. Because the best way to make that happen is to commit a war crime against your own people in exactly the way that would force President Trump to respond or else suffer humiliation at the hands of the mainstream media.
And how about those pictures coming in about the tragedy. Lots of visual imagery. Dead babies. It is almost as if someone designed this “tragedy” to be camera-ready for President Trump’s consumption. It pushed every one of his buttons. Hard. And right when things in Syria were heading in a positive direction.
  • Interesting timing.
  • Super-powerful visual persuasion designed for Trump in particular.
  • Suspiciously well-documented event for a place with no real press.
  • No motive for Assad to use gas to kill a few dozen people at the cost of his entire regime. It wouldn’t be a popular move with Putin either.
  • The type of attack no U.S. president can ignore and come away intact.
  • A setup that looks suspiciously similar to the false WMD stories that sparked the Iraq war.
I’m going to call bullshit on the gas attack. It’s too “on-the-nose,” as Hollywood script-writers sometimes say, meaning a little too perfect to be natural. This has the look of a manufactured event.
My guess is that President Trump knows this smells fishy, but he has to talk tough anyway. However, keep in mind that he has made a brand out of not discussing military options. He likes to keep people guessing. He reminded us of that again yesterday, in case we forgot.
So how does a Master Persuader respond to a fake war crime?
He does it with a fake response, if he’s smart.
Watch now as the world tries to guess where Trump is moving military assets, and what he might do to respond. The longer he drags things out, the less power the story will have on the public. We’ll be wondering for weeks when those bombs will start hitting Damascus, and Trump will continue to remind us that he doesn’t talk about military options.
Then he waits for something bad to happen to Assad’s family, or his generals, in the normal course of chaos over there. When that happens on its own, the media will wonder if it was Trump sending a strong message to Assad in a measured way. Confirmation bias will do the rest.
There is also a non-zero chance that Putin just asked Assad to frame one of his less-effective Syrian generals for going rogue with chemical weapons, and executing him just to calm things down.
I don’t think we’ll ever know what’s going on over there. But I think we can rule out the idea that Assad decided to commit suicide-by-Trump.
You might enjoy reading my book because of all the reasons.

You seem to forget that McCain just returned from the area recently. He has explicity been working with "rebels." This was a set up, plain and simple.

McCain visited Syria one month before the chemical attacks in 2012 as well.

Obvious move by Trump - Bomb Syrian Chemical Weapons Depot. No boots on ground. No long war. And, they are not supposed to have them anyway!

This is a good plan. Better yet, make it a fake attack. Just shows stock pictures of craters and have spicer come out and say we "got em"

That, or more sales were made.
Consider this: 1) Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer left defense contractor BAE Systems in protest because of sales to Pakistan, 2) When I was a USMC engineer attached to a Recon platoon we commonly located American-made weapons that were in mint condition, and 3) In our culture it's a greater sin to deny a company sales to the enemy (regulations) as US Marines traverse their deadly paths than it is to make money at any cost.
For a photo of me with some US-made bombs, see here: https://images-na.ssl-image...
After we were relieved by EOD (like the guys in the movie "The Hurt Locker" but with less cowboy antics) these rockets along with a couple dozen cases of anti-tank bullets were blown up, creating more demand from the wonderful customers of our beloved makers of such things. I suppose I can point to this photo as my contribution to the US economy, if nothing else.

The best course of action for us is to remain skeptical of both positions.
No, it's not.
What motivation would Assad have to do this? How does this in any way help him?
What motivation would the Neocons, who have seized control of the United States and has a stated goal of overthrowing Assad, have to do this?
Come on and just bear the burden of knowing: The United States has a deep state infested with fascist (literally) murderers and killers and the entire corporate media of the United States is their PR firm. They suck at it, but they are their PR firm.
Now, the most dangerous course of action is not even accept this problem exists, because if you don't accept there's a problem, there's no chance of fixing it.

Dude, us fascists are the ones fighting against the neocons and hoping for an Assad victory. Let's be honest about who our enemies are. I'll give you a hint, they're the same people that taught you to call everything you hate "fascist."

Dude, us fascists are the ones fighting against the neocons and hoping for an Assad victory. Let's be honest about who our enemies are. I'll give you a hint, they're the same people that taught you to call everything you hate "fascist."
The Neocons ARE fascists. Literally. I'm not using the term flippantly, that is precisely what they are. You are not taught what a fascist is, because as long as you don't know what a fascist *really* is, you can't fight it.
The economic system of fascism is using the government to support certain favored companies. Like bailing out the banking system with tax payer money, or like using the military for the benefit of Genie Energy in Syria, or toppling the Iranian democracy in 1953 in Operation Ajax to steal their oil, or toppling the Guatemalan democracy in 1952 for the benefit of United Fruit Company, which you know today as Chiquita.
The US is in Syria for multiple reasons (war always requires multiple reasons, not just one), and one of those reasons is the Genie Energy made a deal with Israel to mine oil and natural gas from the Golan Heights which is Syrian land, occupied by Israel.
This is totally illegal.
Anyhow, the first gas attacks, supposedly by Assad happened on August 2013. That was the same month Genie Energy made the deal with the Israeli government. The day that Assad supposedly gassed his people was on the very day that UN weapons inspectors showed up to verify that Assad wasn't using chemical weapons, and it was weeks after Obama said any such use would lead to direct war with the United States - the so called red line.
I want you to look up who is on the "strategic board of directors" of Genie Energy.
I want you to be suspicious of everything I just wrote - verify everything I said.
It's Saudi Arabia and Qatar that fund ISIS, probably at the behest of certain elements within our government. Government isn't monolithic, but the people who have been in solid control for the last 15 years are Neocons, and they are fascists. They'll murder people without a single thought, and they'll lie to you just as easily.
"Mainstream media" is entirely controlled by them.
There. There's the truth. The United States after defeating the Nazis in 1945, have become the new Nazis. We can stop them though, there's 350,000,000 of us, and maybe a 1000 of them?
All we need to do is make people aware they exist, and what they are doing in our name and with our money, and with our passive consent. I'm confident we'll see them hang in my lifetime, provided I don't die early.
Trump isn't a Neocon, and I'm certain he's had to deal with some pretty rough people over his lifetime. He may not be able to beat the Neocons, but here's to hoping.
Now again, you check every claim I made. We need more people to be aware of what is going on because I'm not lying to you, nor am I exaggerating.

Clinton is a Neocon, Obama is a Neocon, George W. Bush is a Neocon.

Sometimes real life is more interesting than the best fiction. (In real life, Bush did not have a job as a teenager and did not work as a 'Shabbos goy'.)

"Now, the most dangerous course of action is not even accept this problem exists, because if you don't accept there's a problem, there's no chance of fixing it.'
Except that attempting to fix problems that don't exist has only led the West into untenable situations for the last 100 years. It is not our job to fix the world's problems. That is a libtard and neocon strategy, one that does not benefit the people of the West. You create a problem that never existed, try to fix that problem, then try to fix the problems that result from "fixing" the "problem".

Except the White Helmets who reported it are actually terrorists.Tapestry of Terror (Highly Graphic) - White Helmets Exposed As FSA Terrorists Linked With ISIS
Video and photo evidence reveals the links between the White Helmets who received a Hollywood Academy Award, the terrorist groups destroying Syria, the lead terrorist Saudi cleric Abdullah al-Muhaysini, and the US and UK media promoted propaganda disseminators for these murderous terrorist groups. This video includes substantial, verifiable direct connections that tie all these entities, individuals and nefarious actions together. Tapestry of Terror clearly exposes the White Helmets as the terrorists and fake humanitarian rescuers that they are. It also clearly links them to the FSA (Free Syrian Army) which is made up of dozens of Islamic jihadist groups who are being paid to destroy Syria, and have been caught on camera on numerous occasions conducting barbaric atrocities since the start of the Syrian war in 2011.

For the sake of the argument - Wouldn't a limited airborne strike against Assad make Trump look "Presidential" and allow him to unilaterally assert authority and leadership after a string of PR setbacks? Kind of like what Bill Clinton did in Kosovo? If Trump acts decisively, even for a moment, it's going to be a big plus for him, not a minus.
So maybe it was actually Steve Bannon who set this up. How would we know?
Although there's always Occam's razor, which would suggest that sometimes Bad People, like Assad, do Bad Things, like use the weapons they've got sitting in the closet, just because Dat's What Dey Do. And they think they will get away with it, because they always have gotten away with it before. Yeah, I know that's the boring explanation, and who likes that?

"Bad People, like Assad, do Bad Things, like use the weapons they've got sitting in the closet, just because Dat's What Dey Do. " - that's not Occam's razor, that's simplifying life into goodies and baddies. And it's not a boring explanation, it's fantastical.
freereel • 5 hours ago
Occam's razor does NOT suggest that Assad would attack children with chemical weapons, giving his enemies abroad a clear excuse to invade his country. The notion that Assad is a self-destructive crazy fanatic dictator is quite obviously incorrect. Is "Dat's What Dey Do" your way of being cute while applying your racist ideas to the leader of a Middle Eastern country?
hyjyljyj • 2 hours ago
You were doing so well, too. "The notion that Assad is a self-destructive crazy fanatic dictator is quite obviously incorrect" sounded really intelligent. Right up until you used the "R" word.
Obviously it's correct that Occam's Razor is not Assad killing a few people for no reason; it's perfectly timed to distract from Obamagate and goad Trump at the same time, and it'll be dampened in the "news" by Gorsuch's confirmation tomorrow.
But nobody thinks Assad's problem is his RACE, for God's sake. The guy wasn't being "racist." And, there's no particular honor in being the "leader of a Middle Eastern country", so there's no respect owed in general there; moreover, the leader you refer to in particular is a hardcore mass murderer who has used chemical weapons on his own people in the past. You make it sound as if that is really due more respect than your imaginary "racist". Sad.
Tom Servo • 3 hours ago
You need to go back and march with the BLM crowd, they think it's cool when you shout RACIST!!!! every time someone penetrates your little snowflake bubble.
Oh, and btw, Assad has done this several times before, so it's nothing new.

good to see Occam's razor wielded a bit amidst the proliferating strands of increasingly complicated conspiracy theories.
Yeah, bad dictators do bad things. Especially when they think they can get away with it, because they always have.
Apply Scott's logic to Saddam Hussein -- he never would have stood up to the US because that would be suicide. Well he did and it was.
Don't bet the bank on dictators being rational actors.
