...holy shit Trump was presidential. There was no trash-talking of world leaders needlessly, he stated the reason cause and effect, where the USA and its allies should go from here, didn't rile up the crowd or demand applause.

This is a very different Trump than we are used to.

I live in Canada. I don't support Trump, but he might just partially redeem himself if he keeps this up.

The U.S is still in a no win situation. If we did nothing, we would be weak looking. Now we are likely going to be in a diplomatic mess that will probably not end well. As for Trump, every president will have moments you agree with and moments you'll disagree. This is something where I begrudgingly agree with his decision, but don't trust the administration to properly get us out of this mess.

I don't know what to think tonight. On the one hand, something needs to be done about Assad. On the other, I don't trust Trump in the slightest and I have zero confidence in his ability to handle a crisis of this magnitude.

You're getting shit OP, but I agree. All I know is that tonight I will go to bed for the first time since January 20 feeling some modicum of pride in my country and respect for the president again. It's honestly a relieving feeling. I certainly do not expect it to last, but it's still nice for the moment. Not only was his speech tonight hands down the best he's ever given, but the fact that he did this at all against Putin -- whatever the motive -- is a very welcome surprise.
