Sure. They also set the precedent by enacting the nuclear option for Obama's appointees.
Their hands were tied on Garland, they didn't have the majority in the Senate to change the voting procedures. So their previous nuclear option came back to bite them here.
That being said, this is a lifetime appointment, and Garland wasn't even granted a hearing by Republicans. We're now stuck with a corporatist who shouldn't be on the court to begin with. If RBG, Kennedy, or Breyer we're to retire or die in the next 3 1/2 years, we could end up with a truly unqualified Justice replacing them. Citizens United may not ever be overturned in our lifetimes.
