I tried an interesting little social exercise the other day, where I went about my daily activities, running errands, etc. And every time that some little mishap occurred, no matter how minor it was, I openly indicated that it must be the fault of the patriarchy.

"Must be the guy's fault!"

Absurd as it might sound, it was oddly liberating and refreshing for me. Because at some level, even though we all know how untruthful and ridiculous such an assertion is, we also know how readily most of the western population tends to believe that women are oppressed, and that its all due to patriarchy (male oppression of females), etc.

It is all so ridiculous and just makes me chuckle a little to myself, just to make it through the day sometimes. Perhaps it is only by drawing attention to the sheer and unfathomable absurdity of the position that folks might tend to truly reflect on it.

On second thought........ no, probably not.

It's probably just wishful thinking on my part. In the mean time, though, its still a fun and stupid little exercise to amuse myself, in that dumb little sophomoric way, sometimes.
