About this project
This is the most precise calorie and activity tracker that move with you. Regular socks can turn a step/calorie/activity tracker for your health.
This project comes with 2 sets.
The first set is the electronics which costs $50 and is a one time buy. This is a small box that attaches your ankle and contains one Arduino board and one very small Lithium battery
The second set is the socks, which are $7.50 per pair. You can get new pairs of socks. Socks has sensor that attached at the bottom and cabled inside.
The idea is to get user activity as precise as possible. The fitbit and phone application does some approximations for activity recognition. However some times this approaches generate results far than the real values.
The current implementation is to count steps only. Since the sensor can sense how much pressure applies on the bottom of sacks, I can measure one more things,
You can find more detail about sensor here

How much energy you spend when you are running/walking/cycling etc. This measurement can give us best approximate value of energy consumption.
The project requires money to make socks, attach sensors and develop final mobile application.
Then everything is ready to ship.
Risks and challenges
I have tested and prototype works great. There seems there is no risk. The challenge is to produce that socks in massive scale only.
