[Opinion] We should still focus on the league (self.reddevils)

Most United fans I am seeing now are discussing how the Europa league is now our best way into the CL, I really do worry about this type of approach. The Europa league should never be under-estimated IMO. These teams are filled with brilliant players just waiting to prove you wrong.

People may not remember that one of our own, Ander Herrera was part of that Bilbao side that beat us in 2012 in the Europa, and look where he is now.

There are still some very good teams left in the competition. The team we are about to play (Anderlecht) should not be taken lightly either. They are 1st in the Belgian League, and Tottenham said they underestimated 8th place (Genk) when losing to them.

Not just this, but the final is 1 game, anything can happen. We are clearly the strongest side left (on paper), but I refuse to throw all my eggs into 1 game which, let's face it, could be the day we bottle it, and that's even if we get to the final.

The EPL is favouring a different side every week. Arsenal despite winning yesterday just need one little push and their team collapses mentally, Liverpool despite saying they have a decent run in, are not performing well at all against the lower league opposition and also now have injuries that will effect their results.

Every week it changes drastically, Liverpool have momentum, then we do, then Arsenal give up again, I refuse to give up on it.

Im with you. I dont get why everyone is throwing it away already. The 3 teams in front of us right now all can be a train wreck as much as we can. If we start getting some goals we will move up the table. Plus we play each of the teams in front of us still bar liverpool.

You don't get why everyone is throwing it away? Maybe because 30 games into the season and every single time the 3 teams in front of us have given us an opportunity to move ahead we have thrown it away. Why would that change now

Well have more opportunitys to gain ground and we play the teams ahead of us. All we need is to start putting away the many chances we have. We aren't really conceding. Have some faith. Get behind the team.

Exactly, so when we are offered an opportunity to take the Europa title and CL place (over just 90 minutes), why would that suddenly change?

Why would be suddenly not bottle it? At least we know in the EPL there will be plenty more bottling from everyone to come.

Yeah surprisingly, given how often we've tried to balls it up, we're still in with a good chance of getting top 4. But we need to start scoring more, and more than likely need results against Chelsea/City/Arsenal. It's possible though and I won't give up hope until it's over.

Exactly, Liverpool got absolutely turned over by Bournemouth earlier in the season, anything can happen, look at it this way, no one ever worries about other teams woes, because we don't need to, and therfore we only ever really see their successes because that's what we aspire to be like, or beat.

Each time has their worries, and they will falter because of these, it's just how much, when and whether we capitalise on those mistakes, at the moment we haven't been capitalising on them, but in every other important statistic aside finishing we're in the top 3 (minimum) teams in the league.

Look at rival match threads during the games and notice that every fanbase is the same, they don't just mock us when we're shit, they mock themselves a lot of the time, much like we do.

Can you even name 5 people right now you would be confident scoring penalties.

Ibra, but his last penalty wasn't exactly a good one.
Herrera takes good penalties.
Pogba would hit the post.
I can't say I have faith in Martial, Rashford or Mhik scoring one under any pressure.
Rooney on for a penalty maybe?
Carrick would be okay.

I believe we have City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the last 5 games. I saw we push really hard until then then assess whether we have a good chance of top 4, if not prioritise EL.

I still believe that we cannot put all our eggs in one basket, we need either to be our safety net to secure a Champions League spot.
