I'm in CA, a group of people were interviewing random students on campus by showing them a short horror film.

Anyways, I was with my friend walking along campus and they asked me if I wanted to do an interview/rate certain short horror films, mind you this interview was taken at night which might be important for the next part.

So i ended up watching the short horror film on their iPad and it was quite a creepy film not going to lie. As i was walking back to my dorm (20 seconds later) someone jumped out of the bushes and yelled at us in an attempt to scare the shit out of us. I flung my iPhone 7+ out of my hands, into the air and it landed smack on the concrete, the screen actually completely stopped working since the phone landed on its corner, most possibly damaging the insides as well as the completely cracking the screen.

I was pretty angry at this point since it was a literal brand new iPhone 7+ (128gb Red edition) and I was just staring at the unresponsive phone for a good few seconds or so before demanding that the students reimburse me for their damages. The phone itself costed $900usd so obviously I was very livid, about to cry since I couldn't really hit them or do anything (I'm quite a small girl). The guy just said sorry and that they couldn't do anything about the phone and the best they could do was not to put scaring me shitless into their prank video.

Is there anything I can do? I know their names since it wasn't hard figuring out which club they were from.
