No other words for this game aside from 'meh'.

We had more of the ball, more attacks, more chances, what did we do with it? Nothing.

Their goal wasn't even a 'fuck sake what is he doing' type moment. It was just a cheeky flick that wormed it's way in, you can't really complain.

It was neither bad or good. It was just meh. The only positive im taking is that we're extremely difficult to beat. Only Chelsea, City, Watford, Feyenoord and Fenerbache have managed it this season. Add a proper CM and a proper CF in the summer and i think that will tick us over from drawing 12 games to drawing 2-3 and winning the other 9-10.

Who do you think we should sign as CF? Belotti, Lacazette, Lukaku are my choices- in no particular order. Can't really think of any other strikers who might transfer and are better than our current lot

Belotti wasn't anything special until this season, so I think signing him is a bit more risky.

We are still too slow in the build up and it gives every single team time to organize in defence and set up a wall. Also, without Pogba we are very uncreative in midfield and this is why if you follow many of our games, instead of receiving a pass and pushing forward to attack, we immediately pass it back and try to recycle the ball around. There's no incisiveness or directness to our play and it hurts us in the final third.

Whenever I watch other teams this season, particuarly the rest of the top 6, the thing that strikes me is that they always seem to have so much more room when they get into the final third, even when its not from a quick counterattack. This comment is exactly why: our issues in the final third are made ten times worse by the fact that we just don't get into those areas quickly enough. By the time we get there they're set up really defensively and we're left passing around the edge of the box trying to break through a wall of defenders.

A lot of complaints lately seem to be about our lack of ability to create in the final third and break teams down; a lot of those issues could well stem from a lack of urgency in the midfield that leave the frontline with not a whole lot to work with. Works both ways of course, the more advanced players need to be making runs and creating attacking options. I've seen a lot of comments from pundits this season talking about Rashford making loads of good runs but almost never actually being picked out when he does it, so thats at least one player doing their job on that side of the equation.

Overall the performance was more of the same. It's happened all season, we dominate the early stages of the game and create some clear cut opportunities but aren't clinical enough. The other team weathers the attacks and then they re organise themselves for our plan B which is just pointless balls into the box.

The defence was decent enough overall but Rojo should have done better on the goal. Bailly was excellent. The attacking play of defenders needs to be more varied - feel like I say this every week. It seems to be slow hanging balls into the box which are easy to defend against.

The midfield was poor again. I like how Fellaini tries his hardest but he's just a limited footballer than doesn't offer us much, he should just be a good squad player. It really reiterated what I was saying previously that our midfield really is our weakest area. Carrick's position is really easy to negate especially when you have someone with plenty of energy to just man mark him. Pogba came on and offered some much needed attacking impetus but could have done more but it was his first game back so I won't be too critical.

Attack wasn't great - keeper had a good game but that's going to happen. Yeah Ibra should have had two goals after a wrongfully disallowed goal but we've benefited from poor decisions this season as well so we can't get to caught up on blaming the refs. Rashford and Lingard didn't really offer much apart from energy and Ibra was a passenger most of the game although he got the goal when it was needed but is that enough now a days for a modern striker? I don't think it is. Mkhitaryan came on but didn't really offer much either. Overall what can I say - more of the same. Wasteful in the beginning and then half arsed attacks afterwards.

Jose needs to change his system next season - our current system is over reliant on Ibra so we need to move away from it. As daft as it sounds I wouldn't renew with Ibra and buy a striker like Icardi or Belotti. These are strikers that will get you goals but there overall game is good as well. He needs to bring in two forwards/wingers at the minimum because right now it really is poor - I don't know if it's confidence or just players that are bad finishers but we can't be waiting around for players to develop otherwise we'll drift into mediocrity. I'd also send Rashford out on loan, only for a season to a premier league club to give him time as a sole striker - it worked wonders for Harry Kane so why couldn't it work for Rashford.

For the reasons above Icardi/Aubameyang/Belotti should be our main targets and then a winger like Costa at Bayern who's obviously unhappy at the club or Carrasco at Atletico - players that want to beat their man and put a cross into the box. I think with these changes we could vary our attacks so we wouldn't be so predictable in attack.

Personally apart from player changes up front, I'd like us to bring in a new coach that can help freshen up Jose's tactics especially going forward.

TL;DR - More of the same, not clinical enough in the early stages , players aren't performing consistently enough, attack is too easy to defend against because it's not varied enough, I'd like Jose to change up his tactics or even bring in a new coach to bring something new, Rashford should go out on loan if we sign a few forwards, I want us to sign a forward and a natural winger in the summer.

This happens with most Ibra teams to be honest. I remember back when he was at Inter they'd just give him the ball and hope he did something with it, especially if they were level or losing.

(1) We are not using the width properly, I can't remember the last time when we managed to open a team up in wide areas. Not enough overlapping runs. Even though we have Pogba and Carrick to switch play, we just don't do it fast enough.

(2) Our midfield was too slow against Everton, simple 1-2 passes and Everton were through.

(3) We have started to go back to our 'safe' play of passing back first.

(4) We don't have enough number of players in the box at the right time, hence why Mata is so crucial because he does that very often.

(5) Everton were so open at times but we didn't have 'natural' wingers ready to pounce on the counter. At one point, Carrick had the ball and was looking up, only to see Rashford and Lingard close by...

So many times either the winger or the fullback had the ball and ran into two Everton players. The movement wasn't there.

Just wasn't good enough. We should have changed up having 3 defensive midfielders in the game way earlier. Was such a waste having Herrera, Carrick, and the big fella sitting back like that. Yes Herrera got forward but hes been a disruptive def mid all season. Its not suprising we created way more when Pogba came on and Carrick came out. Also Fella finally pushed up. Our crossing is dreadful. Rashford worked hard all game but his final product needs a little more work. Young and Bailly looked good. Blind, other than the one free kick didn't do much with the free kicks and corners. The only one that looks a danger at crossing was Herrera. Only thing to do is work for the next one. Lets fuck Sunderland up. Also sucks we are again back in 6th.

Usually when fans talk about how many more points their team should have, they don't take in consideration the matches they shouldn't have won aswell. My problem with United this season is that i can count so many ones we should have won, but i can't recall any we won that we shouldn't.

Not trying to make excuses, our finishing has been utter shit this whole season, but our luck has been insanely bad aswell. How many woodworks has Pogba hit this year? How many through balls did he play to Ibra which he missed? If half of those clear cut chances were scored and half of the woodworks went in, we would have been talking about a midfielder that had 10+ goals and 15+ assists.

Whatever happens this season all I can say is that we've improved in every aspect compared to the LVG ones, and with a few tweaks next year we will be back to our usual championship winning form.

GGMU always! :)

Personally, I believe that our wide players share the biggest blame for the problem we are going through. They are not scoring enough is the most basic problem. In addition, they can't take on players enough neither can they make enough good crosses. You take on one player and you expose the opponents CBs. Where did Martial's dribbling skills go? Where did Mkhi's form when he broke into the team go? Rashford is the most obvious player with massive potential but so raw at the moment. Honestly, Lingard has been doing more than these 3 players at the moment. Wide players need to step up and start taking on on defenders.

Worst undefeated run.

I've been handling all the home post-matchday threads and /u/bangar24 deals with the away games.

I've genuinely been running out of things to say with our home results effectively being draws.

"Oh another draw. Some poor finishing and a little bit of bad luck. See you next week".

Top 4 seems lost, but then again that's what everyone was saying at the biggining of the season as well.

We're currently 6 points from pool with two games in hand, 4 points from City with one game in hand.

We also still play Chelsea at home, City, Arsenal and Spurs away. It's literally up to us if we want top 4 at this point.

It isn't impossible, but it isn't easy either. I'm all honesty, I'd realistically only expect us to get 4th place at most. Especially after yesterday's performance. It's been more of the same, really. Can't seem to finish our chances.

Not enough explosive players, too static, same problem as we had the last 3 season. The foundations are there, we just need that X factor from midfield and wide positions

OP you have Pulis instead of Koeman in your main text. These draws are all so similar I know it must be hard to differentiate.

The raw stats might look good but we really offered very little. Everton were happy to sit back after their goal and try hit us on the break with Lukaku. Who, to be fair, we dealt with excellently.

[–]drexter12 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

It reminded me again as to why I don't want us to sign Lukaku. He had 2 open chances to make a simple pass for an easy goal but didn't do it.

After last night, not sure what Mourinho's problem with Shaw is performance wise.

It showed that Shaw is not as far behind as he was making out to be but I suppose that it doesn't help that the instructions given to Shaw have changed since the start of the season
