I asked my brother's wife what he uses daily that was getting old so I could upgrade it on his birthday. I suggested a leatherman wave or a comfortable pair of work boots. Seeing that he works HARD day in, day out to provide for the two of them he deserves something nice. She made suggestions centered around what she would get out of them, a fucking diaper bag, how pathetic! Who the hell buys a diaper bag for their brother on his birthday?! She told me he had the tool already and he only liked his Walmart special boots. My theory is that she makes him buy those cheap ass boots so she can get more money for arts and crafts bullshit. She wrote a paragraph about how he wouldn't like either of my suggestions and If I bought a nice pair of work boots he wouldn't wear them, he doesn't like steel toe, etc. That is straight up nonsense, I know he had steel toe boots that he loved back in high school. I had to end that exchange in hurry. After thinking on it for a bit, I text him and straight up and ask what he prefers. I get a call back and after two minutes of conversation and it turns out he doesn't even have a multitool. I wish him a happy birthday and got started on the order to be shipped. Simple as that.

TLDR: Women try to receive gifts on their husband's birthday, fuck whatever he wants/needs.
