I very often get the feeling that a lot of what Jose says comes from a sense of deep internal insecurity about not being a professional footballer. He therefore he ends up trying to overcompensate with his words.

Take for example what he just said about Luke Shaw. I've seen plenty of managers bark orders from the touchline but never seen any of them take credit for a player's performance. I get he's showing Shaw some tough love at the moment but 'his body my brain' was an exceptionally weird thing to say.

When you compare Mou with other popular managers in the game, almost all of them were decent footballers. Their 'claim to fame' so to say doesn't come only from management. That gives them a place of security. Mourinho I feel on the other hand, is always trying too hard to justify himself and his worth. He blames his own players and referees a hell of a lot more than he blames himself. He always tends to want to be the centre of attention and reinforce the idea that he is primarily responsible for the success of the club.

Another aspect of his management that bothers me is how much importance he gives to the psychological aspect of the game. Football should be a simple sport where you must aspire to play the best football you can and thereby try to win the game. I think Mourinho complicates it far too much for his own good. He creates a solid structure of defence but relies mostly on individual brilliance from players to attack and he keeps provoking them to get that brilliance out of them. This in my opinion, is why he's only had short term success so far. The provocation may yield a higher level of performance from a player for a short span of time, but the player will eventually grow tired of it in the long run.

If you notice right now, Mourinho is getting the best out of our more 'limited' players but not the best out of our most talented ones. Players who respond to motivation are doing well but players who's game is dependent on technical coaching are suffering this season.
