Again tonight, he was caught wandering up the pitch letting mirallas in for a shot...DDG bails him out and they score from the resulting corner.

He gets pinned as some genius footballer. Ferdinand was a genius footballer who prevented chances rather than blocking shots or making clearances.

Darmian, who gets shat on, never gets caught out like that. Yeah he's shit in attack but he hasn't been the cause of any goals this season.

I expect this to be down voted but he's not good enough to be a CB for mourinho and he's not good enough to be a midfielder. He's not good enough at LB either so we should upgrade..

I think the problem is people think every player needs to be world class on their own. Blind is a useful, versatile player. Is he world class at any specific position, no. However I feel he rarely has games where he is very poor. Is he a world-beater on his own, certainly no but I think he can definitely have an important role especially if we want to challenge in multiple competitions.

We push our full backs high up the pitch because that's how we play. We defended well and prevented a goal at the expense of a corner. The corner is then considered to be the next phase of play and should be taken in isolation. For that corner fellaini, rojo and Dave should have done better.

Tl;dr: Blind wasn't at fault.

He's not a defender. He's a defensive midfielder.

Edit: just because he's been played there doesn't mean he should be a defender. He's definitely got a brilliant football mind and can play defensively and hold up the ball well. He has a brilliant pass and lomg ball ability. His pace and positional awareness however is not up to scratch for a top defender.

If he was consistently played as a DM he would be a better player IMO

Except the 3 seasons he's now played as a defender for us, 4 years as a defender for the Dutch National team, and 2 seasons at Ajax as a LB - winning POTY?

Wish people would stop spouting this nonsense. Yeah - he played a single season in midfield for Ajax and played there at youth level, but he has played the majority of his professional career in defense.

He's unbelievable poor at that as well. When he filled in for Carrick in 14/15, he was nothing special. Blind has no use at this club.
