With latest Shaw's accusations, it made me realise something which most of us have misjudged in this season.
(1) We were angry at Mourinho for not starting Mkhi earlier in the season, but a slow integration turned out to be better. Mourinho was actually protecting him.
(2) We were angry and confused at Martial being dropped, but it made Martial's defensive work better and made him attempt more dribbles.
(3) We were angry at Martial not playing as a striker, but there was one game where Martial was the lone striker and he struggled beyond belief to hold the ball up and make simple passes.
(4) We were complaining as to why Rashford did not start games as a striker. To be honest, Rashford hasn't taken his chances in recent games to prove Mourinho wrong. Rashford currently is suited for wing play.
(5) Many complained (including myself) as to why Pogba and Zlatan never got dropped. Now we realise how much of a difference their quality makes. We don't look as clueless as we did against West Brom with them in the team.
(6) We moaned about Fellaini starting, but he has actually been a decent player as time progressed.
This list keeps going on, the point i'm making is that Mourinho does know what he is doing. He clearly said that we need signings to take us to the next level. West Brom scored 3 against Arsenal, and yet we didn't even have to defend.
I'm sorta glad that we have faced these difficult scenarios within the first season with Mourinho, because I think it will make us much more stronger for the next season. Could it possibly get worse than drawing this many home games, being in many competitions and injuries during the worst time possible? I won't be surprised if we sign 2 strikers tbh.
