Is there a way for us to get a refund?

    2. iH@b 3 days ago

If any one would read the comments he would obviously detect disappointment more than anger..

Most backers were previous owner of their product.. it's very frustrating for most of them to see such hope and trust dissolves with the company and its bran whom most believed in..

I personally although disappointed.. still have some hope.. at least for kendal to raise back from this.. at the end he was the designer and worker while Hyde was the face and voice of the brand.

All of this (post below from 2 days ago), if true, might be understandable and possible excusable if K&H hadn't blatantly SOLD the duffels that we all paid for to new customers and then screwed the rest of us. And the fact that they refuse to post any sort of update, yet can send a long letter explaining the situation to a recent customer is just stupid. Hey Kendal: If you can write a letter to a new customer, you can respond to emails from those of us who paid for the duffle almost 2 years ago and are still waiting. And again, the fact that you took duffles meant for us, sold them to newer customers, and then still screwed us in the end, that's the worst of it. You are not trustworthy. You make an excellent bag, my satchel is awesome, but I don't trust you. Fix this before you do anything else.

Just received this mail from Kendal. And a shipping confirmation from K & H for some products I bought from the web 15 days ago:

"A few years ago out of frustration of not being able to find a vintage looking bag that I could use as a computer bag I designed my own. I guess this was when Kendal & Hyde was born or at least conceived. Others liked what I was doing and encouraged me to take my designs to market. I did this through Kickstarter and had instant and unexpected success beyond what I could handle myself and I took on a few partners and my hobby became a company.

We had some challenges early on, but generally, things were going well and the company was growing. Keeping up with demand was our main problem. We shipped over 6,000 orders to date.

In early 2016 a series of costly manufacturing mistakes and vendor delays came together in a perfect storm. I and one of my partners leveraged everything we could to bridge the gap. Unfortunately, our vendors continued to make mistakes and have delays. Meanwhile, the bills and interest continued to build. And the delays continued.

By the end of last summer, things became very dire. My business partners agreed to leave the company in order for me to be able to bring in outside investment in order to save the company and meet out debt and product obligations. Kendal & Hyde LLC was dissolved at this point and became a sole proprietorship. I began working with attorneys, business consultants, new vendors and some potential investors in an effort to save the brand. I even coopted some good friends with business and operations expertise to try to help me turn things around. Because of their help, I was able to ship 300 duffels, fulfill Christmas orders, and get another 200 duffels ready to ship from the manufacturer. Ultimately, our efforts were not enough to overcome the overwhelming burden of debt and back orders. I did everything I could to keep things going to the point of personal bankruptcy.

For a second time, I had to publicly go silent as the legal preparations to shut the company down were made. I know this was very distressful for many of you to not get answers to your questions or hear any status updates from us. It was difficult for me to be silent as well. I very much wanted to let you know that I was working hard for a solution to get you the products you have long been waiting for, but I was counseled to remain publicly silent as the lawyers did their work.

Last week I filed for bankruptcy. Kendal & Hyde officially no longer exists. I cannot speak for the company anymore, use the company Kickstarter account to communicate on behalf of the company or use the website. Many of you noticed the web store went down last week as a result of the filing.

The word bankruptcy scares a lot of you I am sure. It is not a pleasant thing and I hope none of you ever have to experience what I have and will be going through. However, it is the way forward.

In the next few months, the bankruptcy will run its course. There will not be much I will be able to say or communicate during this time. However, I remain committed to getting right with those of you who are waiting for a product as soon as possible and as permitted by the law. Once the bankruptcy has been discharged in two to three months, I will be back in touch and be able to speak without restrictions—not as Kendal & Hyde, just as myself. I would ask that during this period you wait patiently with me. I know it is a big ask, but I feel strongly that it is in all of our best interest to be patient while the court does its work.

For those of you who have placed orders through the website in the past few days for items that were in stock, they will still be arriving as will a number of duffel orders.

It is sad to watch something that I have worked so hard for. Even more difficult for me is knowing that many of you who have been so patient, supportive and understanding through the trouble this past year have yet to receive your product. I remain committed as ever to personally make this right with each of you and look forward to doing so as soon as I am able.

      Best,

      Kendal

I have just a about given up on receiving my order but still remain hopeful that by some chance Kendall comes good!..

Anyone here that wants to begin to hear the truth, go to the Kendal & Hyde page for us Duffel Victims on Facebook ( not the official K&H page) and read the comments of Kendal's ex employee Matthew Cook - enlightening!

$620,000 in vc money from fundable.com in 2016! On top of everything else! How do you blow through so much cash like that...order all those bags...and go under? When will Kendal Liddle fulfill his obligation to explAin to us all what happened? How can you not deliver when the bags were paid for? Or are we going to find our bags instead in a Mexican flea market??
Can anyone in Salt Lake City pay a visit to Kendal? It's easy to find his home address since he used that for his Utah company documents...

    10. Thornton Peck on March 23

Deliver one by one - and he's walking, which explains the delay; and he doesn't have a mobile phone, which explains the no communication.

deliver one by one? With the MILLIONS raised in the last couple of years... this whole thing is absurd. I wonder how much of this is due to Kendal rejecting leather and re-ordering. Frankly, if this project is failing: he is supposed to go through a careful explanation on how the money was used and what caused such failure.
It REALLY stings that K&H fails to communicate at all AND left so many things hanging in the air that give the perception of intentionally lying to us. In K&H's webpage and elsewhere, EVERY indication is that all the bags were on order and slated for delivery in first quarter of 2017. That money got spent so it is total BS that we aren't going to get our bags. K&H raised SO MUCH MONEY in 2016: DELIVER and stop being such false phoney turds failing to post anything here or anywhere or answering private emails. Most of the people on this and other K&H campaigns LOVE K&H and count me in! But all this silence is ruinous. Get this pulled together!

Based on the discussion in the facebook group and here - there's not a lot of hope left guys. When I posted a month ago, people agreed to give Kendal a month to communicate. That has not happened. It's depressing and devastating.

What a prick of an individual. No backbone no character. I trust that karma will deliver and as for kickstarter as a platform, it only takes one experience like this to undermine trust.

So I have no duffel, and I'm out $400. At this point, I don't believe any of these false promises. K&H is either working hard to deliver, or has done a great job of fooling us. Unfortunately I'm leaning towards the latter. Can I just get my money back? Feel like I just got robbed...

It's a shame that a starter company that I totally believed in and supported over multiple other projects, lost its most distinguish feature among many other crowdfunding campaign..

Having legal reasons not to speak is not exactly a good reason to be completely silent. He has told us before they had the partnership/merger going on hence he couldn't speak about the details but the important thing is, he actually mentioned to us that "something" is under works and legally he can't speak much. But this time round, all the news we're getting are "hear-say" from other people except him. Great that some of you know Kendall personally or have common friends..etc, but not all of us here do and he should address that too. And need I remind you, he mentioned
      1) he's just a designer and has little power towards the life or death of the company, aka the ability of them churning out the bags to us backers
      2) he mentioned that the negative comments are the reason, the killer if the business goes down. So we're the ones to be blamed now?

If he had at least kept us in the loop (skipping sensitive content), though there would still be negativity but i promise you it would be a lot less than right now

Someone on facebook (a lawyer) spoke with Kendal. There's a legal reason for him not speaking out.
      .
"I just spoke with Kendal and told him about this set up [speaking with him once a week and then telling us about it] and he seems happy with the idea. He told me he didn't think it would last long and will do his best to provide any information he can, but hopes everyone will be understanding of his limits for now."
      .
"Does he indicate whether there will be a positive outcome for everyone as well as the company continuing?"
      .
"Yes. He's working on getting everyone taken care of."
      ...
Guess we just have to keep being patient guys.

James- I hear you! As I wrote below--K&H ALSO raised $600,000 from one online investor offer in 2016, too. Plenty of $$$$$. !!!
But then in this and other projects the Creator would put out Updates that he is rejecting entire lots of paid-for leather. I wonder if that has been the undoing: mega cost overruns.

It's very disappointing that a trusted Creator would promise weekly updates and then disappears with no communication. Based on past statements...all our bags should have been paid for and manufactured so there really has to be a logistical way to get our rewards.

This is yet another nasty & hefty lesson learnt from shit KS. These things kept happening again n agin bcos Creators can just escape..run..heck..they could be strolling in to Starbucks right now as we speak..

This duffel project is the last straw..no more KS..

i trusted you guys bcos of the great reviews from your previous supporters.. n in my opinion.. if u guys don't pull this off..pls NEVER EVER try doing biz anymore.. go find some desk job..be an employee not employer..cos u guys suck at being responsible.

This is not rocket science..u aren't designing some out-of-this-world technology.. so to have fail this badly when u got so much money and yet imply on fb/instagram that if this biz would to fail, its our negative comments that's at fault!!?? How dare u... so u basically fail not just new customers..u fail ur regulars..i don't think there'a a sadder more pathetic way to end a biz..

If this KS fails..i hope u guys "sleep well" at night..a debt is a debt..i believe in karma..

    38. Rich Householder on February 17

Really sorry to see this happen. I bought one of the earlier bags but missed this campaign.
It seems there are more and more failed Kickstarters every month with no support at all from the company.
Anyone know of a site that tracks the failures?
Maybe if enough pressure was placed on KS they would re-evaluate their processes?
      Maybe I am just idealistic...

Dear potential investors, let's make something clear: the fact that all of us are disappointed not to have our items is a GOOD thing for you.
It means how much we want these bags, how much we respect their quality and how sad we feel not to have them.
If you are in any capacity to take over the production and actually fulfill the orders, you will definitely have die-hard followers and return customers.
Granted, I'm not an elected representative of anyone, but I'm quite certain that the vast majority here know and trust K&H quality, and want nothing else but seeing it be a strong, healthy company that keeps churning out wonderful leather goods.
Do not mistake our disappointment for a doubt over K&H's quality, what it is and what it represents to us. We WANT K&H products, now and in the future.
Make this happen, and you'll absolutely be seen as the saviors of something great and worth saving.

The company has a strong core of loyal followers, and I would have no issues buying further products if I knew they had secure backing and the comms (which, lets face it, really isn't *that* hard to stay on top of) were sorted. I'm hoping they are just trying to sell some of their inventory to raise some cash so that they can fulfill the rest of the duffel bag orders.
