[CT] Person I have a restraining order against tried to add me on Facebook. Does that violate the "no contact whatsoever" order? (self.legaladvice)

The order specifically states we should not contact each other, however I'm not sure if this is "contact" per say. It's more of attempt contact if that makes sense. Halp

Report it and he'll find out. It likely does but you don't need to move 100% positive to speak to the cops.

I know here in Florida, the general rule is if it sends you a notification, yes it counts as contacting. We have jailed people for sending friend requests and even posting about the person and tagging their Facebook name. Contact the police and file a report

Do not accept the request. The request sounds like contact to me, even if it's an automated Facebook contact. He asked you if you wanted to be friends( that sounds like contact). Call the police and show them.

Ohh that makes sense when you said he asked if we could've friends. I'm not looking to get police involved (more for my sake, it was a pain in the ass to implement it) unless he goes too far but hopefully he sees that I have no interest in him or communicating with him

All you have to do is call. I would report it anyway, because if he tries again they might ask you why you didn't report it the first time.

I wish you were working on my GFs case against her ex... They keep telling her that text messages and emails are not enough proof to violate the order since they cant prove he was the one that actually was behind the keyboard.

take a screen shot and then go onto his profile and BLOCK HIM. do this on every media you know he is on.

this is a two way street. you also could get in trouble for contact. accepting a friend request is contact

I have accidentally sent friend requests by bumping the "add friend" option on the "People You May Know" section of the app before. Block their profile and keep living. I don't know the specifics, but it may have been an accident.
