Recently graduated college, and moved far away from home for a job. Dated a chick for five years previously, and just before I graduated, we were discussing marriage in the near-future.

She's still in college at this point, a year behind me in school. She came out to my new home twice to visit, and kept begging for an engagement ring, but I kept telling her just give me some time so I can buy it in cash.

Recently, my best friend from back home screenshots me a bunch of texts where she's begging him to have sex because I'm not around anymore to give it to her. He didn't move on it and told her to fuck off. I ended the relationship.

Thank God I have good male friends and thank God I didn't propose to her or worse marry her. About a year later and I have a nice savings built up and couldn't imagine ever marrying or anything like that and allowing someone to fuck me over. I don't make moves on women or anything, I'm kinda just happy the way it is right now.
