Nice thread mate. Great detailed analysis. I think everyone would agree that we need a holding midfielder to give Pogba more freedom but I really don't know what we're going to do upfront. Especially if Ibra stays.

Cheers.

I think that if Ibra stays, and it looks like he will, I would imagine Jose will try to surround him with one more player out wide like Griezmann or etc. I don't like that plan, but I won't complain if we sign a world class talent like him.

I would much rather see United go back to using 2 strikers. If it works for Atleti, Monaco, and etc, it can certainly work for United.

This was a really great post OP. I don't want to get too ahead of ourselves but if we did bring in Griezmann this summer I think we could play a 4-3-3 with him playing more as a wide forward than a pure winger. This would create movement in our attack and also pairing Pogba,Herrera with a holding mid whether it be Carrick or Someone else. The only problem is 1 of Mhki/Martial won't start unless Mhki drops deeper in midfield like KDB/Silva have done this season. Post Zlatan I hope we could play the same formation and have Martial/Rashford as the #9.

Griezmann on the left and Martial up top?

Yup, after Zlatan leaves I think that it would work

Excellent post.

It is no coincidence that we have struggled to score goals over the last two seasons when we have switched to playing just one striker.

In these kind of ganes, The obvious solution I can think of is to have Martial a lot closer to the box than the touchline - more like a LF than a LW and trust our LB (Ashley Young possibly) to provide the width the same way we rely on Valencia on the other flank.
