If you haven't been sporting your Tw3 collectors edition wolf school medallion daily, then you aren't a real gamer

When i shine my medallion i always assume it is trembling due to some magic nearby, but it is just my hands because i start thinking about how great Witcher 3 is and can't contain myself.

I just love Ciri so much. I can't wait to be a dad

Just so you can be a better dad than her dad?

My wolf medallion broke off the chain and the loop needs to be fixed. I usually keep it displayed in my room though.

I actually bought the game on Steam, but after 20 hours I realized how good it was so I bought the Collector's Edition and gifted the game code to a friend.

It all started last year. I had been dating my girlfriend at the time for 4 years; we'd play games together all the time on the couch and had a healthy, stable relationship. That was, of course, until The Witcher 3 came out.

At first, it was something that helped our relationship. I would play it and she would watch, like a lot of games we played, but as time went on, my obsession with the game grew.

I would sneak into the living room overnight and play it into the wee hours of the morning. I would pretend to go to work, but hide in the bushes until she was gone, then I'd come back in and play all day. She didn't mind at first, but I could tell she was upset whenever we would sit down together and she'd frustratedly ask what she missed when she saw my character was farther than we left off.

Over time, I started to develop feelings for the game. It understood me, took my choices and actions into account, and was way naughtier than my girlfriend was. As I spent more time with it, our relationship grew deeper, going to places I would never have expected - it was a warmer, more intimate lover than ever I would have imagined.

I broke the news to my girlfriend about 2 months into the relationship - I could no longer continue to disrespect her as I spent my time with the game. She was angry, she didn't understand, she called me a freak. I don't care, I love The Witcher 3, and we've been happily married ever since - our first anniversary is April 14th, and we've been talking about having children. :)

I can only imagine that it can be quite a burden to have Witcher 3 and a girlfriend in your life. I read the first Witcher book as a child and thankfully quickly realized that i will never need a women in my life, i couldn't even imagine that anything could take a place so near my heart until Witcher 3 came out.

No real women could ever reach the excellence of Witcher 3 and in the long run you probably made the right choice.

Why would you need a woman when you can have a full-sized Geralt body pillow?

Witcher 3 is probably my all time favourite game. I even moderately liked the combat which seems to be the most criticised aspect of it. Just thinking about the game makes me want to start a third playthrough. In fact, cya, im off to do just that.

I can see why you would say that. In my opinion it takes about 7 100% playthroughs to fully grasp the complex combat system. It may seem only like a 9/10 right now, but after you spend about 400 more hours you will see that the combat is clearly a 10/10.

Have fun playing the game, but please be sure to read all the books again as well.

Im exploring into audiobooks now that Audible has them all. Is this ok for you? I've read them once, but i can read them second time if audibooks dont count.

Of course it's okay! Just one day you should really read the books, in the original polish version.

I don't understand a single word of polish, but whenever i stare at these printed undecipherable words it is like Andrzej Sapkowski's genius is touching my very soul.

You know, I never did understand the hate for the combat. I didn't read much about it until months later and it came as a complete surprise to me that a lot of people dislike the combat. I think it is amazingly well done, and this is coming from a souls vet.

Geralt does not control well. I'm trying to actually play the game after giving up on it due to the combat and having to deal with Geralts floatiness is a huge problem. I don't feel in control of Geralt. The game would be so much better if CDPR didn't go for realistic inertia when moving, it does not translate well into a game

I love the combat. Most of my swings feel like they have weight to them, and it's cool to lop off a head every now and then.

I can't believe other game companies are still making games after Witcher 3 and its expansions released.

What's even the fucking point?

The only game that compares is Mass Effect Andromeda, which like Witcher 3, is a video game.

Get out of here with your milquetoast taste. Witcher 3 is an experience, art in the purist of forms. It's beautiful, and strong, and wild.

Ass effect andromeda is a video game. Video games can't be art. They can only be farts.

This is one of the best games I have every played, and while the list of what it does right is very long and while it really does set the standard of quality that all AAA games should be compared to, there are things that could use improvement:

  • A better main antagonist - Eredin and the Wild Hunt in general is left as a mysterious etheral enemy, but you never truly get to confront them and learn why they do what they do or have that much interaction with them other than combat. The Heart of Stone expansion had a much better antagonist in Gaunter O'Dim.

  • The game suffers from some of the standard pitfalls of open world massive games today, and the big one is the minimap. The game is a hundred times more immersive when you have no minimap, and there should have been a default mode similar to the Friendly UI mod that removes the map and creates 3d markers than can be activated by witcher vision.

  • The ending is satisfying, but after the end when you are dropped back into free-roam it would be great to have an encore where so that when you go back to the various places there are little post-ending encounters with characters that lead to a nice final conversation.

  • The combat is satisfying and its unfair that people compare it to Dark Souls, however the difficulty curve could be tweaked. It's difficult in the beginning on Death March, but gets too easy by the end. The DLC's did this much better, the boss battles in the DLCs were absolutely massive challenges as they should be.

  • The levelling is kind of weird, and I never liked that you can only activate a certain set of abilities at once.

Witcher 3 has flaws. Some are dumb and can be easily fixed (points of interests enabled by default, fish eye enabled by default, less responsive movement system enabled by default, camera adjustment needs mods), other are bit more severe (last 5 minutes of Dijkstra, Eredin being underdeveloped due to cut content). That said, it is still the best game I have played in 25 years, first to unseat Fallout 2 as my favourite game of all time.

The combination of writing, quest design, world design and resulting exploration and unbelievable immersion. Combat that didn't get old even after 550 hours of two full completionist playthroughs. All the characters and dialogues, the emotions it elicits. I read the books back in 1999. Playing Witcher 1 and 2 was glorious enough, but Witcher 3, with so many references and characters returning, was a god damn dream come true. Some slight spoilers: This game lives and breathes its quests and sidequests. In Witcher 3 and its expansion, I:

  • hunted for a Giant on a remote island

  • participated in a hilarious theater play

  • investigated serial murders

  • took part in large gwent tournament with surprise at the end

  • interacted with adoptive daughter and ensured she got enough confidence to take on large responsibilities

  • experienced an authetic, amazingly funny wedding

  • took part in deciding who is going to be crowned next king of entire Isle nation

  • slayed many epic monsters, usually with interesting narrative around them

  • got drunk with my fellow witchers and then crossdressed and drunk dialed religious figure who was taking a dump at that moment

  • traveled through different worlds

  • participated in a medieval heist

  • was provided an amazing and satisfying conclusion to a saga I started in 1999 by reading "Last Wish" for the first time

  • and many many more memorable things

Btw. Hilarious april's fool :p

Look we can to this the easy or the hard way, your choice. You are clearly in the wrong and everyone knows it, take a deep breath and REALLY think about Witcher 3.

[–]Lewisham [

The only problem with this game is it has endings other than the bad one. Only the bad one makes you truly feel like like Geralt, where you are such an unequalled pinnacle of manhood that you realize you can only be alone.

Alone.

And awesome.

And alone.

The combat system has no parallel, the open world is truly organic with no limits, and the writing revolutionized modern literature. We will never see a game as great, because there can never be a game as great.

April Fools, TW3 is a massively overrated game. TW3 is the best game of all time. Nobody told me to say this.

I'm happy you were able to see the game as it is!

It may not be my favorite game off all time but it is the best I've ever played. It's incredibly ambitious and manages to nail just about everything. My only main qualm is the movement whether it be Gearlt or Roach. Otherwise everything else was bare minimum 9/10 to me. Can't wait for Cyberpunk 2077 and their unnamed AAA RPG in development. I will have to play through it again soon.

Look, i know you are not trying to offend me, but your first sentence is out of place and i will have to replay the game twice to get over what you said.

I'll let what you wrote stand, because you at least seem to be able to get a grasp the greatness of Witcher 3. I'd urge you to replay the game a few times and you'll see how terribly wrong you are by not realizing that it is very much your favorite game of all time.

Did you try the alternate movement mode?

The problem with the normal movement is that there is an animation for geralt switching directions. The alternate removes this and makes the movement feel more on-point; but they don't look as natural.

Every time Sony has a sale on the Playstation Store I hate myself. I'm not going to turn down the incredible deals. Why does this matter? Because every time I buy games I try to prioritize them by time to beat so that I can clear my backlog faster. This has put The Witcher 3 pretty low on the list.

I've played about 3 hours of it and LOVE the game so far. I've tried Skyrim and FFXV and neither made me want to continue playing. I don't know what it is, but The Witcher 3 feels fantastic to play. I look forward to finding some time to get into it fully.

I literally just picked this game up yesterday for XBO.

Needless to say, I'm stoked.

I really don't know what makes the "follow the trail with your witcher sense" all that much different from the "just scan stuff and follow power cords" quests in ME:A, but they're just better. I know it's almost comical how much praise this game gets, but even those quests that should be dull and super repetitive felt fine.

You know I seriously love this game, but I never complete it. For me it just became insanely easy if you did a lot of the side quests. The first few hours I played were definitely the funniest; just scrapping by barely. I kept bumping up the difficulty and just quit when I was still destroying things, without prep, on the second hardest difficulty. I respec'd out of the fire sign because it was too powerful and the replacement (healing shield thing) was even more powerful.

I have the urge to load the game up and start over. Does anyone have any suggestions on making the game harder? I guess I could avoid the side quests but I loved the side quests!

This Gwent prequel is probably my favorite game of the last five years aka the only time when video games that mattered were made. The only games that have matched it emotionally for me are the Eisner/ Tony/ Emmy worthy script of Mass Effect Androgynous. It's the most important game in my life made by Polish programmers who had to work at near slave wages. When I gathered those 3 boar skins, I clapped when I turned it into the nameless dwarf NPC and he muttered the eternal words "thanks here's your gold". Moon landing? Garbage. Atom bomb? Garbage. Large hadron collider? Garbage.

You can keep your science I have Witcher 3.

ah let the circlejerk commence, i shall partake:

TW3 is the best creation in the history of mankind, it was made by an indie studio consisting of 2 slavs from the Warsaw Ghetto on a budget of 200$, the result is a morally grey master piece.

This game will be regarded as a classic in the sense of BG and Planescape. I think it's somewhat of a worry when many people (who haven't played the game) bash the combat system. For open world game, the combat is leagues ahead of its competition. Witcher 3 just shows quality everywhere from animations to graphics and story. Even with witcher 2, I could see that CDPR put more love into flotsam alone than bethesda did with skyrim as a whole.

I always tell anyone who wants to enjoy the intricacies and the almost dance quality between geralt and the enemy, they should try it out on a harder difficulty. I'm playing it on death march and it has made me appreciate/respect the gameplay even more.
