NASA had better tech in the 1970s than SpaceX today. The space race was side tracked by privatisation, and Musk, Boeing, Lockheed, and more, have profited from our tax dollars to almost get us back to 1975.

They lose the feed because as the Falcon approaches the ASDS, the vibrations from the exhaust vibrate the satellite dish and it cant maintain an uplink. That's why picture returns once the rocket lands, The vibrations stop.
Look at some LZ-1 videos if you want a continuous video that will prove you wrong.

if they know this is going to happen why would they not solve the problem by putting a camera/link off the line of the barge?

they go to all the trouble to have live feeds of takeoff and landing for something they shot into space and back, but the most important part... the landing... they say "eh it's fine if it cuts out."

lol ok bud.

They did, NASA supplied a chase plane for CRS-8 which was the maiden flight of this particular core. Video can be found on youtube.

again, they're going to the hype and production of a live feed... but you're saying that it makes sense for them to use a camera they think is going to go out rather than make use of a feed that can effectively track it from air to ground?

Yes. Mission Control receives telemetry, Just not video. It is not necessary and is only there as a service to the fans.
Do you understand simple physics? That's what is at play here.

just so we are COMPLETELY clear on this, you're saying that it's possible for them to launch a rocket into space, and land it on a dime in the middle of the ocean...

and its possible for them to livestream the ENTIRE thing....

but it is decidedly NOT possible for them to livestream the most important part of it: the landing. they are ENTIRELY aware of the problems caused by putting a satellite dish and camera on the landing, but they're not able to figure out a solution to move that dish/camera to a place 200m away so that the most important part of the entire process can be part of the stream.

that's what you're saying? lol.

You do realise this stuff is not as simple as you make it sound? We have received video through the whole thing INCLUDING the landing, It wasn't smooth but it was live. That is only possible when they perform a boostback so they can be closer to land.
This time the core was on a ballistic trajectory and so it went ~500km away from land.

How do you propose they put a dish 200m away? Wireless? Same problem, The vibrations will kill the link. Wired? The support ships are too far away.

Do you realise what you are saying? I give up trying to educate the plebs. SpaceX are doing this, they are making history and they are in the process of performing a massive shakeup of the global launch industry. If you want to deny it, Then deny it. Ill sit here comfortable in my knowledge you don't know what you are talking about.

how do you propose they put a dish on the barge itself in the first place? lol. 200m, 500m, 1km whatever. you're saying it's beyond their capability? to put a boat out there with a feed?

they go to the effort to hire two hosts and make a big fuss to livestream everything with video from space, but they don't show it land because... it's not possible?

that's what you're saying, yes? it's an honest question between two people. i'm specifically asking you the expert -- is it possible for them to broadcast live video of the fucking rocket landing?

you seem to be saying that no it's not possible. is that correct?

Would a simple google kill you?

why are you sending me videos that aren't live footage of today's landing? i just decided to google "video of an alien ship blowing up the white house" and found a few things as well.

i'm asking you as pointed of a question as there can possibly be, and you are evading it -- is it possible for them to broadcast uninterrupted live footage of the landing of a spacecraft along with their livestream with crowds cheering and hosts walking us through every detail?

Upvote for common sense.

Such horeshit. I can't believe they even have the balls to put that shit out. But then again people will eat it up. This world is strange.
