Just over three years ago Ricardo ‘Maserati Rick’ Agnant, who had never played a single snap of college football, finessed his way into an NFL Regional Combine that was being held at the Miami Dolphins Training facility.
His performance was overall lackluster, and the Dolphins had only one small comment on him: “Guard Ricardo Agnant, despite not having a record of attending college, displayed tremendous heart as he pushed through his drills – all on a bad hamstring.” That is Agnant’s NFL career in its entirety.
Despite showing his skills for only one day, Agnant was still able to channel his inner Frank Abagnale and turn several hours of work into years worth of “NFL experience.” He began posting a series of fake photos to his Instagram that he used to fool restaurants, car dealerships and most notably, women.
In April 2014, Agnant posted a photo of what appeared to be him signing a contract with the Dolphins. He heavily filtered the photo so that you couldn’t tell it wasn’t him.
In fact, every photo of him on the field and in uniform is highly filtered or purposely does not show the number.
Agnant’s fantasy life came crashing down around him when he made some highly derogatory comments towards women. The backlash from his stance started the investigation into his “career” and caused more than a few women he’d scammed to come forward. His comments can be found here.
The Miami Dolphins have confirmed that they’ve never had any sort of contract with Agnant and that he’s never even touched the practice field. He’s since deleted his social media accounts – all except for this one.
