Pro-Trump Reddit users blasted a proposed federal law that would loosen Internet privacy regulations, and called on President Donald Trump to veto the bill.
AOL spotlighted the concerns of the Trump backers in a Wednesday write-up. One Reddit user decried how “your [Internet] provider will be able to sell your specific browsing history to anyone without even telling you. Thats [sic] pure spying.”
Another pro-Trump commenter underlined that “this bill is a disgrace and against the people’s interests.”
The main Reddit thread on the controversy started with a post that likened the issue to the president’s tax returns: “It sickens me to think that, while you have a complete right to privacy of your tax returns, you might sign a bill that will put our private information up for sale…The internet is ESSENTIAL for life and business today, but it can become worthless if its potential for use as a marketing tool is realized. PLEASE veto the Online Privacy Bill!”
AOL’s report pointed out a Twitter post by left-wing pundit Sally Kohn that mocked Trump supporters over the issue.
Republicans, crowing about fake accusations that Trump’s privacy was violated, are now revoking the privacy of millions of Americans. Sad!
