Start squirreling money away now. Hide it good so you can have either a nest egg for 17 years from now or an emergence i can't wait any longer fund. Never let anyone know you are building it.

I was there, and I can tell you I was a shell of who I was 18 years earlier. Make your exit plans now. Think of all things that are important to you as you make the plans. And focus on building up a nest egg only you know about. She doesn't deserve half of it.
