I'm using Fedora 20 x86_64 on my Lenovo ThnkPad X230.

My gnome-shell always use 20~30% CPU usage or higher, I think that is graphics drivers problem,

but Intel(R) Graphics Installer 1.0.3 for Linux just support to Fedora 19.

Did I have any solution let gnome-shell CPU usage lower?

# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep "model name"
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz

# lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)

$ gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 3.10.3

Under what conditions does this happen? When you execute many applications?

It's always high CPU usage,

even just gdm mode at user log in screen.

But if I switch to other tty without X, it's down to very low.

I think you can fix with update.

It's up to date.

# yum update

Loaded plugins: langpacks, priorities, refresh-packagekit

No packages marked for update

I had a similar problem with the Intel HD 3000 on Fedora 20. I installed the Fedora 19 RPM from Intel and that fixed the high usage in my case. Although it's probably a bad idea to do this:

sudo yum install https://download.01.org/gfx/fedora/19/x86_64/xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.902-7.5.x86_64.rpm
