I just got back from taking grandma on her weekly dinner-and-dollar-tree outing, and she said something interesting about the sun.

The weather here in NE Ohio has been unspeakable, just absolutely classic autumn and beyond beautiful. No clouds at all in the pure blue sky, golden and red trees, and, of course, a low, huge and blinding white sun.

We were downtown and the sun was low in the sky (about 4PM), and so bright it was very difficult to see and drive. I've mostly gotten used to it, but grandma was shielding her face, and then she said:

"I guess it must be my eyes aging, but I think the sun is getting closer to earth. It's a big white fireball coming to burn us up anymore."

I asked her what she meant, and she said something like, "It so damn big and bright and white now. It used to be small and yellow, I liked it better that way."

I asked her if there's anything else that seems like it has changed, and she said she's so old everything has changed. I asked her about Thanksgiving and she said it's on the third Thursday. I asked her about Veteran's Day, and she got pissed off saying it's Monday and then I stopped asking questions because angry old ladies scare me.
