64,231 runners for 5 years!
r/speedrun is a sub for people who speedrun games. Users can compare strategies, post their personal bests, and even world records. The sub is not restricted to any one game but NES and Nintendo games are most prominent. However, games range from "Half-Life" to "Hot Dog Hero." The Community is helpful and respectful and has a constant flow of new people with currently just over 64,000 runners. World records are constantly being smashed and new glitches and strategies are found all the time. If you want to get into speedrunning or just watch other people's runs, r/speedrun is the sub for you.
I found out about this subreddit after watching an event on Twitch called Games Done Quick. I was intrigued by the concept of speedrunning so I searched for it on Reddit and found r/speedrun. The community, although competitive, is very helpful and kind. Even if you have no interest in going fast, watching other people's records is incredible.
Here are some examples of what you'll find in r/speedrun.
- Favourite Runs:
This post is someone new to the community looking for content, he asks respectfully and specifies what he's looking for, the community responded very well with their favorite runs and tips on where to find content.
Marathon:
This post brings attention to an event that the sub would appreciate, again providing sufficient information and links. The comments section even helps spread the word for their event elsewhere.
Fallout 4 WR: New world record for Fallout 4.
This is an awesome community that is passionate about Speedrunning, whether it be running, watching or discussing, they are always kind and respectful. It's a place to take a break from the drama of the front page or the hassle of real life. Take a break and remember, go fast.
