How do you figure? Genuinely curious. I thought hypergamy was marrying above one's own social class. How does refusing to date religious men make a woman hypergamous?

Hypergamy also includes being very choosy with every attribute of a guy including his looks and religion. It means choosing the ultimate best in all areas. It means women have so many choices that they can afford to be hypergamous / afford to pick between a hot guy of the same religion and a hot guy of no or a different religion.

I still cannot wrap my head around the notion of having a standard for religious affiliation as being all that choosy, but after reading this sub for a while, I can see why you'd come to that conclusion.

But when the topic of the thread of "female atheist has to choose between a religious Chad or an ugly atheist incel," it's a bit of a stretch to accuse us of being hypergamous when we answer. You're giving us a choice, so answering honestly in this scenario really can't be equated with "being choosy."

So, to you guys, Chads are hot by default, and in this hypothetical scenario, this incel is ugly. My choice isn't between a hot guy and a hot guy, it's between a hot guy and an ugly guy. Religion is a dealbreaker, so I set my sights on the ugly guy because we are more likely to be compatible.
