Definitely talk to a lawyer, but I doubt she could get her hooks in anything after you've divorced. The divorce decree is a contract and the end of the business relationship with terms agreed to by all.

By the way, fuck her for doing that. "In sickness and in health" is just a throwaway now I guess.

We're both Canadians living in Canada and recently I've heard tell of Canadian judges granting spousal support like this to even common-law marriages as many as 10 years after the separation. I can't seem to find any examples on Google, but this has me worried.

We covered that a few months ago. It's very true.

I would work in the business first. I would also be very cautious.

I would not flaunt your success. I recommend the book the millionaire next door.

Drive an older car, don't tell people about your finances, don't flash money, don't buy a lot of fancy things.

I don't know about Canada, but in America you can incorporate, in purchasing land and assets in a Corporation.

It doesn't protect you from divorce but, it makes it a little bit more private. She probably has spies who will report to her so keeping things private is important.
