A YouTuber, “TheFamilyVideoGamers”, has posted a video of what appears to be leaked images of Call of Duty 2017 concept marketing artwork.

The leaked images show that Call of Duty 2017, developed by Sledgehammer Games, will take place during the World War II era.

The images above show artwork that Activision appears to be creating for promotional images and box arts. It also appears that Activision has decided to be straightforward with the naming scheme for the game and call it ‘Call of Duty: WWII’. This would be, probably, the simplest name for a Call of Duty game since before Call of Duty 4.

Activision has not confirmed any of this as of now. Stay tuned.

Thus far, Activision has only confirmed that this year’s title is developed by Sledgehammer and will take ‘Call of Duty back to its roots.’

          3 year dev cycle for a call of duty game….we decided we didn’t want futuristic call of duty till right before black ops 3…aka over halfway through a dev cycle, infinity wars didn’t have a choice but to continue with their call of duty, and I’m a big fan of the modern warfare and black ops serieses story in campaign but infinite warfares, was the first cod to make me cry at the ending since MW2….so appreciate that they cared that much, to at least not milk an advanced warfare.     I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t believe it for the following 3 reasons:
    1. The name is about as unoriginal as it gets.
    2. The same person said IW would have a Loyalty System for people who played and
    prestiged in Ghosts, AW and BO3, said there’s something called Friday Night Fights, said Quarry (MW2) and Fallen (MW3) would return and said Assault, Support and Specialist Streaks would return.
    3. It seems quite early for these kinda quality leaks to come. I know some people theorize that this CoD might be revealed earlier because IW was a disaster, I was one of those people, but with Destiny 2 recently being leaked that’s obviously being announced very soon and I doubt Activision is gonna reveal 2 games of that size extremely close to each other. I also doubt stuff like this would leak like a month in advance.

    Also, a lot of people are saying this person also leaked the Infinite Warfare posters which turned out to be true, but this person has never provided proof he was also behind that. The real Infinite Warfare posters were leaked by Reddit user /u/infinitewarfareleaks, this leak comes from Reddit user /u/rTwGNaywaoaLh. /u/rTwGNaywaoaLh has never provided proof he’s also behind /u/infinitewarfareleaks, just claimed it.

    I’m sorry, but after years of stating advanced movement was a bad thing, I don’t believe that’s strictly true any more. They added it because Call of Duty was getting too “samey”, much to the same reason why the move from WW to modern times happened.
    Change may not straight away be a good thing, but once perfected, it can be a good thing. I don’t think going back to the past THIS YEAR will produce a good game, far from it. Yes, everyone’s been asking for COD to “remove advanced movement”, some stretching it to “go back to the past”, but I truly believe it takes many cod games to perfect it’s particular setting. Look at advanced warfare and look at black ops 2. Advanced Warfare is quite possibly the most hated COD game of all time because of the sudden addition of a new game mechanic which didn’t work right. Black Ops 2 had the sudden change to a future setting, not many would have said they liked that idea at the time it was revealed.

    Now, while a lot of you would melt and be “triggered” if I even thought about saying Infinite Warfare isn’t such a bad game, but I’m going to say it anyway. Infinite Warfare isn’t such a bad game.
    As I said before, settings take time to perfect – it’s a jump from an Earth setting to a Space setting which people have a problem with most, while others are still hooked up on the idea of advanced movement. However, while Infinite Warfare may have jumped into a new setting, be that space, in my opinion it has perfected the advanced movement. Think about it, I can’t say I’ve heard anyone complain in a large amount about it in Infinite Warfare. Yes, there are and always be those few that do and always will complain about something no matter the perfection achieved, but I can’t say I have heard anywhere near as much as I did for Black Ops 3, not to mention Advanced Warfare and the spam of hate about that particular topic.
    I just think if Infinite Warfare had stuck to Earth, about 99% of all complaints wouldn’t be there, and at most we’d dismiss it as another “advanced movement” game. The timing of a new setting on top of an already hated mechanic in game was poor on Infinity Ward’s part.

    Oh, and PS; I want a future setting. Not because of the advanced movement, no – all I really want is the slide movement really – but because of the interesting settings and environments and interesting weapons and enemies you can make in such a game. World War has been done to death imo.

      I disagree. Advanced movement is bad for Call of Duty as it simply doesn’t fit the Call of Duty style. It’s too random and way too fast paced. Which generally, Call of Duty is already a fast paced game. It doesn’t need to be more fast and random. I’m perfectly fine with Call of Duty being the same and sticking to what Call of Duty does.

    This actually put a smile on my face. It’s simple, to the point and smart of Activision from a marketing and business standpoint. There’s still plenty of work to be done, but I’m remaining optimistic.

  • I don’t mind the setting or the lack of hover jumps and wall running. I just hope the game isn’t slow paced like MWR i.e. losing momentum when jumping, taking 4 years to climb objects, and aiming/moving while ADS like a turtle.

    I just want a very fast paced game with quick ADS times, fast movement, and infinite sprint. Then I’ll be happy, even without the exo suits/advanced movement.

    I’m not a fan of this, tbh. I know a lot of people are begging for WW2, but considering the state of COD in the past few years, it should not revisit WW2 at all, unless they want to keep things serious. And dabbing Nazis carrying MP40s with bright neon camos is exactly why it will kill the serious tone of WW2 before it even begins.

    That said, I don’t plan to buy this game in the first place anyway, since Sledgehammer’s PC support for AW was straight up ass. I might if they show some proper support (starting with including PC in the beta test for one), but there’s still the point I mentioned above. Plus the co-op mode (which is inevitably going to be Zombies). It’s gotta be fun to play, otherwise it’s a no-go for me.

    • I think SHGames will have the sense to not have Nazi soldiers dabbing with weed camos. We haven’t seen anything crazy in MWR yet so.

        I’m hoping for that as well. If they can keep the bullshit emotes out and do what Raven is doing with the customization, I think we might have a winner. Keep the weapon inspection, keep the Weapon Kits, maybe combine it with BO3 attachment variants, and we can have a healthy supply drop system for once.

        • Yeah if they just take the supply drop system from MWR, I’ll be more than happy with this game. To be honest, i kinda chuckled when I typed “Nazi solider dabbing with weed camos” but yeah I wouldn’t be too happy if they do that. But i would hope they understand to keep this game serious and to the theme.

      Cod could make an awesome ww2 campaign tbh. However I could see why you would think that especially if they make an Operation gamemode map to re-imagine the beach invasion of Normandy. Damn that would be glorious if battelfield does it.

    Judging from the cover art, it may take us back on fighting nazis because the art resembles somewhat the landings of D-Day on June 6, 1944 were the US push the Nazi forces off of France and onto Germany. There may also be a chance that Nazi Zombies would come back. Whatever it is, as long as it takes place during the second world war it’s fine by me.

    • SHGames version of Nazi Zombies with their own story would be pretty interesting.

      Was hoping Treyarch would make a ww2 cod, not sledgehammer. Oh well, i personally wanted Sledgehammer to do a cod taking place during vietnam or possibly recent (Iraq War) but lets see what happens.
