Barry Bonds was vilified for using steroids whereas Bruce Jenner was given an award by ESPN when he started identifying as Caitlyn.
How can we understand the absurd double standard of steroid use vs hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in the context of our feminine primary social order?
(Whether or not Jenner actually went on hormone replacement therapy doesn't matter to my point, look at the issues generally. You can replace these two with any steroid using athlete or publicly applauded transgender person you want. And I'm not making a case for steroids, I'm examining the deep logic of prevailing social trends).
In both cases (steroids and HRT) the individual takes an artificial compound to self actualize the body he envisions for himself; to attain the body he feels is the REAL him (and in both cases, it isn't the real him). However, one man is vilified (steroid taker) even though it improves his physique and makes him more formidable in competition among other men. The other man (hormone replacement therapy) is applauded, even though the treatment makes him weaker.
I contend it has to do with a woman's need to identify a genuine man - hypergamy expressing itself as societal approval/disapproval. Satisfying hypergamy requires men honestly signal their biological fitness/weakness. The man taking steroids has falsified his physique in a way that suggests better genetics than he really possesses. Why is this a problem? A woman might make a mistake in reproducing with him based on a false display. He therefore needs to be punished. The man who starts presenting as a woman, on the other hand, has openly disqualified himself as a mate, so a woman no longer needs to worry about making a mistake mating with him. He gets applauded for having weeded himself out of contention.
This comes down to a FEELING people (feminists, SJWs, mainstream media, public education) have about why steroid use is unacceptable and transitioning gender is A-ok. It's not necessary for anyone to pinpoint the origin for it to reinforce itself through discourse and shaming. And don't be thrown off by the fame and money of my two chosen examples - the same absurd double standard applies to a wimpy teenager who wants to take steroids vs a teenager who wants to transition male to female. It is illegal and against all the rules to take a compound that makes you more of a man, it is encouraged and applauded to take a compound that makes you less of a man.
This is in line with the idea of feminism being a massive shit test, meant to optimize the female's sexual strategy and constrict the male's.
