There are some really good points in the article. We all know the president is a liberal so I wouldn't be surprised if they let Brooks win just to "look diverse". Is the election commission student ran as well?

He makes great points. And unlike many on here, I like and respect Perry. That said, this is a battle I would just assume he stay out of. While the situation needs to be rectified, I suspect him entering the fray will likely serve to give the "champions of diversity" a larger platform and target. This should be worked out by the students in a recall election, the SGA or the school administration.
Anything "student run" is really just run by the advisors, SGA especially. There is also a certain internal politics to SGA that is similar to real government. Positions that require applications and interviews are decided well beforehand, and anyone running for office that the establishment doesn't want to win will face strict scrutiny and decisions like this.
Perry was right about them not doing this to a candidate that was a POC. Booboo Davies was a non reg elected for senior yell around 2001. The day he was elected it was made public that he was academically ineligible to even run for yell, but they let him be a yell boy anyway because "he didn't know he wasn't elegible" but clearly, it was because he was a POC. He was a great dude, and I liked him, but they clearly ignored the rules just as Perry said they would.
Could a FOIA be filed on this for communication of the advisors?

Normally, I would want him to stay put as well. But as PC as our administration is becoming, it takes a big fish like Perry to exert some pressure.
After everything Perry had a hand in to turn A&M into a cookie-cutter diploma mill, THIS is what gets him upset? I agree that what happened is pretty sketchy, but at the end of the day it's a glorified popularity contest.

I've said before, walk into the MSC tomorrow and you'll see that the lack of diversity at A&M is a total myth and our student body is very representative of the U.S. population figures.. This is in large bold letters on the front of the SGA website: "The Election Commission exists to organize and oversee all Student Government Association elections in a manner consistent with the Aggie Honor Code."
Honor Code my ass. Hopefully the powers that be will have enough pressure exerted on themselves to fix this mess and discipline any wrong doing on the part of the individuals involved.

There is zero chance the admin does anything to make it look like they are taking away the election from an LGBTQ student.

Seems like SGA has always done what the faculty has wanted them to do. When I was in school, much of the SGA were a bunch of faculty and administration suck ups. So yeah, it's gonna mirror who's in charge at the university. I'm not sure why Perry is involved, but somebody had to say it. It's pretty damned obvious what is happening here.
