Will system administrators, network specialists and developers really be forced to install ContentID if they allow uploads?

I know the AMA has not started yet, but I'll just leave my question here in advance.

How do you feel about the direction Twitter, Youtube and Facebook are going in terms of censorship?

To add some context

I saw several videos on youtube yesterday which showed that Alternative media channels, were not viseable while in "restricted mode" (kiddy mode basically) But the likes of CNN and CNBC were still viseable.

Then of course the hot mic moment Angela Merkel had with Mark Zuckerberg about the anti-immigration stuff.

Oh and Twitter does not mind banning people who have opinions they don't like, but it takes them quite a while to get rid of ISIS accounts, for example.

Snippets: "This measure does not address the challenges of the digital era, and harms access to information. The only option is to remove the snippet levy from the proposal."

Are you happy the current situation? Example: Google monetising someone else's content? If not, why stand in the way of an attempt to address that, or why can't you offer a better alternative?

So, a few questions:

  • Who is pushing for this copyright law to pass ?

  • Some time ago in France, we passed a law obligating Google to pay newspapers for all links in Google News. Google just stopped linking to their article and the newspapers experienced a huge drop in traffic, and thus in ad revenue. Wouldn't this law have the same effect on people, IE won't they just stop linking to copyrighted stuff ?

Thank you for doing this AMA.

Can you make a list from the most censored social media to the least censored(YouTube included)?

How do you feel about the CEO of Reddit recently secretly editing user comments? Can this affect them legally? If the CEO of a social media company has a history and ability to change what people have written could that affect trials, warrants, etc...?

We have also seen a great deal of censorship on Reddit which is very worrisome. What direction do you think the site should go in? Replace the CEO and other top people?

Hello! I have a completely non-technical question. How are you going to deliver your message and make a change? Are you in contact with MEPs and MPs around Europe? What parties are most sympathetic towards your view and who are you having hard time convincing? Thanks in advance!

Why do you think there is such a big "boom" of self-censorship (in the last 3-5 years) among many educated young adults?

A mandatory upload filter on all user-created content that websites should install. (A proposal that affects places like YouTube and Tumblr by making a souped-up ContentID system to catch copyright content the moment it is uploaded)

My question is, at least regarding to YouTube, why can't a person post copyright content for free while giving the legit owners the right to monetize the views of that content?

AFAIK YouTube is already doing this (giving creators the option of monetizing the video) so why stop now?

Controls on how news links can be shared on the Internet aka. the Link Tax. (A proposal that affects places like Reddit that wants to give a copyright to any short content that comes with links, and charge fees for sharing them)

This is another level of nope nope nope.

This would do nothing to Reddit. It's an American site that doesn't give one shit about EU law.

EU cares about EU law though. Enough to enforce it too.

Have you noticed the subreddit you're in? People from Europe tend to hang around here. You know, where this is happening and will affect other things.
