All right, that's it. I'm sick and tired of all this "fifth most powerful in Berlin" nonsense. Nazis deserve better than that. Much, much better.

I should know, seeing as I bailed out for myself a genuine Nazi from South America for 500,000 pesos (a bit more than a tenner) and have been revising history with him for almost two years. I'm pretty sure he could leave an academic dumbstruck with a single quite from Mein Kampf.

Nazi industrialists spent years working on a single project and created up to a million parallel agencies to make weapons worthy of wonder. The Wehrmacht's vehicles were twice as designed as Allied ones and probably got three times as much maintenance.

So what am I saying? Nazis left to the world today a glorious legacy, without them we would likely not have:

• The United Nations. And less directly the European Union.

• The Manhattan Project would not have gotten going if they hadn't arranged for so many physicists to get together in one country.

• The ethical rules in medicine under which the Tuskegee experiment was stopped. Without the Deutsche Arbeiter Parti you'd all be infected with syphilis.

• They did more than any pansies' pacifist protest or international organisation to prevent another war in Europe, and did it without subverting our English democracy. Eurocrats should learn from them.

• The definitive refutation of racialism was very much drawing on their research. So much for Nazi science being a dead end.

• At least half of the tabletop wargames, first person shooters and real time strategies of the last fifty years.

And finally, you may look down upon Hitler for invading Poland and all, but consider that the only alternative policy available was to kill and enslave them by peaceful means and with their consent. Which as we have seen with Brussels today takes much longer and results in far more suffering.
