This is why 95% of the posts on either sub are garbage. Some people don't even realize they're being manipulated and just contribute to the garbage.

This is another tactic: equivocation.

I implore readers who are unsure of the parent comment's claim to check out /r/btc for yourself and then decide which sub is "garbage."

Not trying to equivocate... my opinion is that it was good at first but turned into the same kind of ad hominem circle jerk that this sub currently is.

Curious, I'm still relatively new to the community, but where would you recommend getting unbiased Bitcoin info from? I've been using this and Coindesk but I've heard both are bad.

Probably best to take in all the arguments, be skeptical, and try to sort things out yourself. Getting your information from an "unbiased" source likely just means that you're in an information bubble.

Yeah, I do my best to try and get all sides of a story. Even tinfoil headlines may get a click from me here and there just to see what's being discussed by communities that aren't in the spotlight for a variety of reasons.

perspectives...garner as many/much as you can, and derive your own truth as best you can. simple rule for disseminating information in an "information age"

It's a bubble troll...One of my favorite kinds.

This is probably biased advice, but what I seek in bitcoin is decentralisation. So I generally listen more to sources of information that holds decentralisation in a high regard.

Unfortunately I haven't found any really 100% reliable single sources of information who are also neutral in the SegWit vs BU fight.

So my advice is to read a lot but don't trust anything. Try to understand the concepts of how Bitcoin works. That way you can start to separate the real concerns from the FUD.

Thought about this a bit.. basically there isn't a correct answer... only thing you can do is learn as much as you can then make your own decisions. Comment sections of community sites/forums are all a mess unfortunately

[–]Synochra [

I'm the furthest thing from an expert or even what most would deem a Bitcoin user, but I think part of bitcoin's deal/issue is that there is no one 'unbiased info source' as everything seems up to debate; which is why any voice, that goes beyond simply asking or explaining technical questions, has to pick sides one way or another.

This is all very much a work in progress, both technologically and politically.

Twitter is a much better conversation for crypto

You can help reduce that statistic by refraining to post this relativist nonsense.

Alternatively, I can post my opinion while you go fuck yourself.

The infestation of trolls and on r/bitcoin is substantial, but the Honey Badger don't give a fuck!!

The Bitcoin community is calling all the paid FUDDERS out! with your new fake reddit accounts.

It's getting stung like a thousand times. It doesn't give a shiiiiiit. It just - It's hungry.

Those accounts are the worst . Redditor for 2 days or so

They come in waves,

Shit stirring FUD

Panic FUD

Concern FUD

Dumb arse question FUD

HF FUD

et cetera.

I think the problem is also here, not the trolls who come here to cause problems, but some of the users. It seems you cant speak your mind unless it's about the moon or hodling. When I first got here after I acquired some Bitcoin i was like oh yeah I like it here, oh damn look more good news, and more and more... then it got old and now it seems like propaganda lol. Dont get me wrong, I like to hear good things about my investment but it's ridiculous here sometimes.

It seems you cant speak your mind unless it's about the moon or hodling.

This is untrue. Try looking around more.

If trolls on reddit can take down bitcoin maybe it's not as bulletproof as people make it seem.

[–]EnchantedWater420redditor for 21 days [

Trolls, with all their pump and dump rhetoric, made Bitcoin into what it is today.

We are now deep into the "Then they fight you" stage. It's crucial we pay close attention to Andreas' message if we want to reach the "Then you win" stage.

It's easy to lay all the blame on trolls and shills, but we also have part of the blame. There are too many naive users on this forum who are too quick to demonize people with different opinions, who shut off all suggestions for dialogue, and who are cheerleaders for radical destructive solutions that would break Bitcoin apart.

So, how do we tell apart honest actors from malicious ones? Here's some guidelines:

  • Honest actors are polite and civil. Malicious ones are rude and only add aggravation to a discussion.

  • Honest actors understand nuance. Malicious actors like to paint others in black and white.

  • Honest actors apply the principle of charity. Malicious ones always "misinterpret" other people's comments.

  • Honest actors understand that the world is a complicated place, and that if someone disagrees with you, that does not mean they are part of some evil conspiracy.

(Feel free to add your own guidelines.)

We should ban all devs from reddit for their own good.

Edit: and the good of bitcoin

We should delete all bitcoin subreddits too.

I wonder what it would be like, if there was a bitcoin forum that required proof of coin ownership to post. I know there are privacy issues etc, with that, but just as a thought experiment, what if you actually had to buy bitcoin to troll bitcoin forums, and every sockpuppet account would require an additional purchase?

What would the content of that forum look like?

Andreas' 160-word tweets make more sense than those long OP-EDs on CD, CCN, CT, etc.

I feel like AA is just trolling Reddit now to get a rise out of us.

I don't think Andreas realize the amount of intellectual thought processing and maturing I go through between my reddit contributions.

Yes! We've been infiltrated by spies and intelligence agents who are undermining us at every turn with their trolling.

I think the biggest threat is people going around selling the idea that bitcoin is going to usurp "evil" banks. I think the biggest piece of disinformation being spread is not to keep bitcoin on exchanges.

Luckily 212,000 people don't represent the entire Bitcoin ecosystem - so the damage is limited to what shills and trolls can do.

Bitcoin will survive, through sheer momentum of will.

I would be surprised if there are actually 1,000 active Bitcoin Reddit users combined.

Trolls = Luke, petter Todd, Adam, Greg, lomrozo etc
