That's not completely true. August Comte argued for complete altruism. Although, I will concede that the vast majority of philosophers have agreed that full altruism is unreasonable. Still, there are things like effective altruism advocated for by Peter Singer and Toby Ord.

This is just false. There are most definitely communists, socialists, and other far leftists in America. If you mean they aren't taken seriously on a national scale, then sure, that's correct. But it's silly to act like anti-capitalists don't exist in America.
