No, the towers will not sound, because all you are doing is stealing some cheap plastic cards that have no value.

I don't think you need an elaborate plan to lift inactive gift cards, but hey, do it any way you want.

I also think scamming people like that is lightweight shitty, but I'm not the morality police so do what you do.

I look forward to these posts because it gives new a chance to relieve some pent up Internet anger on a dumb fucking retarded dipshit with however many swear words I care to type.

You (u/tachibanakanade) are a fucking idiot. You are literally stupid. You could have applied that mental effort to literally anything else and you would have been better off.

Gift cards have NO value. Go ahead and walk into Walmart and visibly grab every fucking one and place it into a giant bag that says "LP SUCKS BALLS" and then walk out whistling Dixie and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will happen to you. You aren't stealing shit but pieces of plastic that are going to be replaced within the hour from some box in the back room.

On top of that, putting aside the fact that I don't know anyone who would buy a gift card online, doing so makes you a shit bag fucking douche. It is a violation of the subreddit rules to threaten violence, so I won't. At all. So don't worry about that.

And as u/liftedthisname pointed out, we aren't the morality police... but fuck you anyway.

It's funny because BttHrtLilTumblrina's username is very applicable to their comment.
beep bop if you hate me, reply with "stop". If you just got smart, reply with "start".

Lol. Is that why you reported my comment?

Besides, this is far from a "tumblrina" comment. Not everyone who thinks someone is a douche is an SJW.

except, i didn't? why would i report your little stroke when you're a mod (for some reason)?

Pretty exceptional timing for someone else to report it in the 5 minutes after I wrote it yet you managed a response.

But do you have an issue with me being a mod? I try not to let it interfere, but if you have a complaint I'll hear it. I don't think anyone could show evidence that I use it to my benefit, but I would rescind anything I did that was in conflict.

like i said, why would i report it? there's no real reason to report it anyway. i thought it was funny, especially the threatening violence part. that was A+.

Not so much an issue as I can't say I understand why you'd be a mod of a subreddit dedicated to stealing then have a wild ass response to someone stealing.

I'm gonna step back, and apologize for initially reacting the way I did for the purpose of saying I don't necessarily believe all of the things I said about your intelligence.

But here's the thing about stealing: your choice of victim makes a difference. Besides the fact that you cannot actually steal the worthless giftcards (making your post irrelevant), ripping off people in your method is taking from those who don't have to begin with. They are regular people, struggling to survive. You might as well break into their homes or take food from their children's mouths.

it's fine. i'm a piece of shit tbh.

what do you mean by i can't steal the worthless gift cards? i'm not really keen on scamming people who don't have money, since they're decent people and that's fucked up. so i will reconsider this. (though if people who did have money were to get scammed by me, i wouldn't really care.)

You can't steal them because they are essentially "free". People go into stores and take empty gift cards all of the time. They have no value unless you use money to put value on them at the register.

I would have made the arrest just because I can't stand those scams. There is a way to do it.

I remember trying once, but then the question was asked- what, exactly, is illegal (at that particular stage)?

Misdemeanor theft. Because just because the card isn't activated doesn't mean it doesn't have value, the difference is in which party the card has value too.

When a card is activated it has value to the possessor, when a card is inactive it has value to seller.

The item also obviously fits the definition of property.

Its misdemeanor theft because good luck trying to use the value that can be loaded onto it.

How do you sell unactivated gift cards online? They have no value.

easy: i just say that they're activated. by the time the purchaser finds out they're not, i have my money and there's nothing they can do.

Like a lot of the people on this sub: You are a piece of shit.

I hope you're taking precautions because certain people will shoot you. Some people may go to great lengths to find you after getting ripped off. i.e. act like someone else wanting to buy one of your cards and wait until you show up, or take note of your car, etc.

I have no problem with people shoplifting from corporations like walmart, but selling false gift cards to individual people makes you a breed of scum that isnt even special. Youre just straight up shitty.

tbh i'm okay with being shitty. i'm not trying to be a paragon of virtue. and i can't really understand the line of thought that says stealing from walmart is okay it rips off a corporation but selling false giftcards is not because it rips off a person when in the end, they both rip off an individual person (the workers).

shoplifters who have a problem with what i do are just hypocrites tbh.

At no point do the workers suffer. Stealing merchandise from Walmart costs the company and the stock holders. Stealing money from your neighbor is stealing from your neighbor.

Well, TIL.

There have been people in this sub talking about people getting fired, people's wages getting decreased, etc. over theft.

None of that is true, it gets refuted each time the claim is made.

lol if they have your number or if you sell via ebay youre fucked

Theres a huge difference between stealing from a corporation that knowingly fucks over everyone it employs, overcharges ridiculously for products made in sweatshops, and closes down stores to avoid unions because they can afford to when employees try to make better working conditions for themselves, and stealing from an individual human being. Walmart is given money yearly to cover stolen goods, that dude you screwed over? Does not have that.

I dealt with a lot of lifters that really weren't bad people, they were petty shoplifters who got caught. I even gave a break to quite a few lifters, foregoing prosecution in special circumstances and such.

But anyone who looked they were trying this shit go hit with any applicable or semi-applicable charge.

uh, why?

I'm not the original poster of the comment you replied to, but I can deduce why a person trying this would be more likely to be prosecuted than someone stealing some eggs.

Because LP knows why you're taking them: to use them to rip off unsuspecting individuals who are potentially buying that gift card to use for food, hygiene products or their kids birthday. Hell, it doesn't matter why they're buying it. There's no other reason a person would still inactive gift cards. Once again, because you're a shitty person.

Those unactivated plastic gift cards are so easy to take, i collect them from stores all the time. They will never make the towers go off.

That's easy. A lot of cashiers don't mind you taking gift cards.
