Isn't this what the upvote/downvote system is for?

[–]JhixDe Gea -1 ポイント0 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Most of the comments op has picked out aren't that bad or unjustified. Especially compared to ops previous posts.

It's cringe-worthy indeed. Unsurprisingly most of the users on the Wall Of Shame have stacked up a considerable amount of downvotes from me in Reddit Enhancement Suite. I highly recommend installing it. Not only does it give you an odd satisfaction of watching their downvote numbers climb, but it also helps you isolate the unsupportive simpletons from the reasonable majority and make the sub-reddit experience a less depressing one overall.

Also helps a ton to ignore the United Stand and Full Time Devils. I'm sticking with The Rant Cast and Statman Dave. Also been tuning into The Football Terrace lately.

We should have two match threads, the usual one, and another labelled [prawn sandwich] where you can't say bad words and only watch 20 minutes of the game.

Irritated people making reactionary comments, nothing wrong with that, can't ban em for not liking Mourinho or players.

The cancer one though ya, you might wanna ban those as a mod

Woosh, Tagging the people is probably excessive.

Some of OP's comments from recent games.

Rojo is a machine at CB but an absolute joke at LB.

Jesus Christ the St Ettienne players are soft as fuck. Falling down at the slightest touch. This is the weakest French resistance since 1940.

Herrera's passing today was terrible.

Why does Pogba choose today to have a shitter

Every simple ground pass the ball bounces like Pamela Anderson's tits on a tumble dryer. Absolutely shocking.

How are these not equally, if not more offensive, than half the comments he's complaining about?

Rojo is a machine at CB but an absolute joke at LB.

I first compliment the player, then I give my opinion regarding the player's quality at LB. I am describing the player's game. Most of the examples in the list are personal attacks on the player and not on the player's game. If I said "Rojo is a cunt" or "Rojo is shit" in general, then yeah it would be comparable.

Jesus Christ the St Ettienne players are soft as fuck. Falling down at the slightest touch. This is the weakest French resistance since 1940.

First part of the comment is true, and it was a clear tactic of theirs. And I am not sledging my own team. The second part of the comment is quite obviously a joke.

Why does Pogba choose today to have a shitter.

Again, this comment quite clearly refers to his play during the game. I am not calling him a "donkey" or calling for him to "fuck off" from the club, or calling him a "terrible" player in general. If I did, it would be comparable.

Every simple ground pass the ball bounces like Pamela Anderson's tits on a tumble dryer. Absolutely shocking.

This is clearly humor, and the joke is directed at the pitch. Not even close to comparable with some of the shocking comments above aimed at our own players.

So you're allowed to say Rojo is an absolute joke at LB but /u/pqamarks isn't allowed to say "Smalling sucks" at CB.

You're allowed to comment on individual games like Herrera's passing being terrible or Pogba having a shitter but /u/mdxlegendrooney isn't allowed to say Pogba has lost his head, nor is /u/rossco9 allowed to wonder if Mata is even playing in a particular game.

Lastly you're allowed to make jokes but people like /u/privatemachine aren't.

Got it.

"So you're allowed to say Rojo is an absolute joke at LB but /u/pqamarks isn't allowed to say "Smalling sucks" at CB."

Wrong. I said "Rojo is a joke at LB", which refers to his performance in his less favourite position. u/pqamarks said "Smalling sucks", he did not mention anything about "at CB" like you incorrectly wrote, which implies that Smalling sucks as a player. Way to go, that is how a fan calls out his own player.

Lastly you're allowed to make jokes but people like /u/privatemachine aren't.

My jokes are not at the expense of the players. My joke (the one cited) relates to the Rostov pitch. The joke you cited implies that the whole squad doesn't give a fuck.

Would you like all the users you listed to give justifications for their posts?

[–]WildBuffalo -1 ポイント0 ポイント  (0子コメント)

"The United players look like they are playing for their Middlesborough futures."

That's a good line, to be fair. Don't see why it's embarrassing.

On another note, I actually feel the condescending crusading against emotional posts is just as annoying. There's nothing wrong with most of those comments, and the ones that are out of order are in the minority and ALWAYS downvoted. Reading most of them I can only conclude you're upset incredibly easily or you were scraping the bottom of the barrel getting beyond half a dozen comments

You have to remember it's not all United fans in our match threads. I've seen many opposition fans taking the piss. Now I'm not saying our fans don't say ridiculous stuff but just be wary of who's actually saying these things. reddit is full of trolls

[–]krelmAndy Cole 4 ポイント5 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Maybe we could make this a tradition? Like a weekly witch-hunt thread where we can call out other users whose comments we find disgusting, pathetic, idiotic and infantile?

[–]jackmanutd 11 ポイント12 ポイント  (4子コメント)

Wtf is that cancer comment that's fucking disgusting

Is your point that we shouldn't call for officials to die or that you don't want us saying anything at all that goes against what you personally believe.

I love and invest financially just as much (if not more) than you do and have a right to say whatever I want in match threads. People forget the word fan derives from 'fanatic' and yeah I go abit too far when passion is running high but they're just words and your attempt at censorship is just embarrassing and incentivises the trolls on here.

Anyone that's seen me on here knows that I'm not a troll. I have some strong opinions on here sometimes, but it's my right to have those opinions. Me comparing Fellaini to an amputee was in jest (and when isolated makes me look a bit of a cunt haha) but I'm not gonna stop putting comments like those in the heat of the moment for you so the mods might as well ban me now.

At least I didn't fly a banner...

Is your point that we shouldn't call for officials to die or that you don't want us saying anything at all that goes against what you personally believe.

The former. No one should call for any player or official to die. Of course you can say things that go against what I personally believe. I don't have issues with controversial opinions at all. But calling for someone to die is objectively wrong.

I love and invest financially just as much (if not more) than you do and have a right to say whatever I want in match threads.

Financial investment does not determine how much right you have to say something as a fan, compared to another fan. Complete non-sequitur. I am an advocate for allowing fans to say almost anything they want, but calling your own player a "cunt" and calling for someone to die is too far. You don't have a "right" to say those things.

[–]MoosjeHerrera -4 ポイント-3 ポイント  (1子コメント)

I've not defended people calling for officials to die or calling people cunts, but seems like you've not just named and shamed those people, but also others that haven't said anything that bad with the context of a match thread.

[–]mrpiggywinkles52Herrera 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (1子コメント)

People get caught up in the moment myself included it makes for good reading after and it's no different to any other subreddit.

Addressing my own comment I do not rate Smalling at all and I think he is doing deserving of criticism although put more eloquently than that, I've thought it since the start of the season really. However the comment was just my frustration boiling over at the time. I also don't believe saying a player is shit is a personal attack, I have no issues with Smalling as a person and I'm sure he's a great guy but as a footballer I'm not a fan

[–]MoosjeHerrera -1 ポイント0 ポイント  (0子コメント)

There's absolutely fucking nothing wrong with your comment. I'm assuming it was made in the heat of the moment when Smalling was... playing fucking shit?

Ignore OP, he's got a good initial point about not calling for officials/players etc. to die but it just turned into him calling out anyone that says anything even barely non PC.

On another note, not too sure how many games he's been too live if comments on a match thread have gave him this much trouble...

[–]husaini___ 7 ポイント8 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Suprised im not there

[–]mufctezIbrahimovic 13 ポイント14 ポイント  (1子コメント)

Some of the above comments are awful and should result in bans, but some comments are fine.

"Smalling sucks" for example, what's wrong with that? You might not agree, but it's pure censorship if you stop someone giving a valid opinion.

[–]nelsonandthemandelas[S] 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I do not call for censorship for all of the above examples. Not at all. You should be able to give an opinion, or to be critical of a player. I am just against using personal, derogatory attacks against our own players. They deserve a minimum level of respect in my opinion.

We have over 58 thousand people here. In a community this big, of course you'll find a couple of bad apples.

It looks like you're trying to mention other users, which only works if it's done in the comments like this (otherwise they don't receive a notification):
