There are of course male forms of clothing from warm countries, such as the Sarong, the Dothi, the Kaftan and of course the Thawb. Although wearing one of these as a native in a western country would likely not go down well.

What came to my mind is the ancient Roman Tunic (or the Greek version, the Chiton), which was worn by both women and men. Functionally it is exactly what you want, but you might argue it's a bit out of fashion. I say we ought to bring them back.

Mmhmm, being Swedish/hillbilly in the Midwest of the US, those styles would be appropriative of me in an inappropriate way. Obviously I dig that they exist, so thank you for naming the proper contexts for the things I didn't have the right vocab for. Kilts aren't for me either though I knew better about them. One of my old college friends wore one well. Always thought that was cool.

And so yeah, I think a tunic of sorts would fit the right image. I'm a cardigan-wearing librarian type, don't even like to wear shorts or less than mid-length sleeve often, so not sure I'd wear any of this myself, but again I've not seen anything like that actually in my kind of style. Was just curious what was out there. Tunic would be a great style. Feudal serf style fashion with like a modern vest and tie? This is also hilarious to me as political satire. Nothing about it I don't like, I don't think.

There are a lot of medieval tunic styles available on cosplay, LARP, and renfaire websites. No reason they can't be worn in daily life. I think most are intended to be worn with pants, but the longer ones should be fine without.

As a Trek nerd, I'm obligated to bring up the existence of the skant, which was designed to be unisex. but it's hard to find an affordable one for sale, and the design is not very forgiving. It really needs to fit right in order to work.

I could see blithely wearing something ceremonial or religious as offensive, but come on. It's not wrong or insulting to wear another cultures clothing. Other cultures wear western style clothing, why should it matter the other way around?

My friend got me some Lularoe skirts and I've borrowed some of her dresses. You are the one who has to make it masculine and make sure you don't get a "girly" print, but it can work on a guy so long as you wear it with confidence. The "Nicole" dress doesn't work very well because of the deep plunging neckline, but just about every other dress and skirt does work. And once you start wearing them you'll not want to go back. Very soft and comfy and the space your given is heavenly which also helps prevent a bunch of testicular health problems.

I don't know of anything specifically designed for/marketed at men, but boxy, semi-shapeless shirtdresses, ironically often called "boyfriend" style, are pretty in right now, so you might be able to wear something like that.

Kilts are more socially acceptable. Try wearing one of those.

Not my thing. Also hear they are quite warm.
