To quote Kuroda Seiki regarding visual arts:

Meaning that most of them prioritize the message over the rendering of the illustration, so most mangaka (and most Japanese artists in general) don't even bother with anatomy or 3D form at all.
Of course, there are exceptions, but unfortunately, those are a minority compared with the rest.
