Sex and God – Coming from the 8th to the 9th house
Is Sex, a taste of God’s touch over our soul?
Hemlock Grove 1×09 “Peter’s Hierarchy of Shit He Can Live Without” still
- Hemlock Grove – Sexual Tension
I was watching the first season of Hemlock Grove – a Netflix original series, specifically the episode 9th entitled as “Peter’s Hierarchy of Shit He Can Live Without”. In this episode, a female detective which is a member of an occult society of hunters, is investigating the possible murder of innocent girls found in town, she then goes to a women called Destiny, a Romani witch and con-artist, who makes her living as a psychic medium and sex worker. In this visit, Destiny chills the detective with her mystical abilities while an intense conversation begins:
Chasseur: I’m not sure I can trust myself anymore. I’m afraid I’ve lost my path to God.
Destiny: When you say ‘god’, you mean…
Chasseur: I mean God.
Destiny: Right, I’m sorry. I don’t usually get many big ‘G’s in here. And the ones I do are usually enjoying my other services.
The investigator by little gets enthralled by the sensual vibration the witch sweetly provokes when talking to her soul while looking deep into her eyes. Destiny realizes the detective is somewhat in need of an intimate act, she then sucks her 2 middle fingers and asks the detective if she wants to see God again, and when she lightly says yes with her head, the witch puts the fingers in Chasseur’s vagina.
That made me think about the transition from the 8th house to the 9th house of astrology. The detective is a drunk women but with a steady mind and down-to-earth approach to circunstancies, a features prominent in the character, which is confusing seeing her letting herself flowing with the witch’s mind-set and manipulative action. But when we are addicted to something, we simple let it go of everything around, a theme which is easily discussed through the 8th and 12th houses. The 8th house is the conscious addiction, the obsession over drug, while the 12th house is the unconscious self-destruction mode that a person operates via planets transiting in there.
Genesis of Sex
We can’t deny sex is good and is closer to god or afterlife as we can ever feel in human form. The ecstasy, the orgasm is ultimate and exciting enough in order to accept it is also a pleasurable activity instead of using it only for procreation. And through the semen, we get to know the “image of god” in liquid form, whereas once injected in the right place, it evolves into a human being by “the image of god”. Genesis 1:27 says:
“27. God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28. God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”…
The first verse cited above (27), it seems “God” gives us a strong sense of procreation over sexuality and pleasure in an intercourse, giving humans a sense of power over nature, the real power of creation. In the astrological 8th house, we see Scorpio ruling the position as well as Pluto and co-ruler Mars. This is the house of sex, death and rebirth; a fixed house which nothing turns out lightly but daringly abusive or regenerative. In this verse, it seems god make it clear about gender and preferences when talking first about a male gender instead of a female body despite being his (not her, you see) “own image”, creating since the beginning of Christianity and its Monotheism, a profound concern of prioritizing a gender stronger than the other, or in other words, a prevalence of sexuality which would generally create wars of gender between the religious minded, through misogyny, prejudice and discrimination. The 8th house prevails what goes beyond and the consequences of sex, for better or worse. Scorpio is the feminine side of aggressive Mars, and Mars is the first planet ruling the wheel of the Zodiac where Aries rules the 1st position of it, the house where we are born as individual, apart form out silent mother’s belly (12th house). There is this profound connection to the meaning of life, sex and God which is inevitable not to be seen in the Zodiac. Let’s explore now the following verse.
The next verse (28) it talks about god wanting humans to multiply its species over earths, as well as to dominate all animals above it. In the astrological 9th house, we see Sagittarius ruling the position as well as Jupiter and co-ruler Neptune. This is the house of faith, religion and the house of “god”; a mutable house which everything turns out lightly yet wearing a blindfold as if everything is alright and overly-protected. In Sagittarius, we find the ancient symbol of a hybrid half-human and half-animal, a man with the feet, speed and audacity of a horse. The need to dominate animals is also seen here in the house of the hybrid human-horse. It would not be enough for humans to only have power over our creation (8th) but to all wild-animals as well (9th) or those animals in which humans are nothing alike in image. Jupiter rules expansion, it multiplies in the terrain of abundance, the planet is known as the king of Gods in mythology. It is said that during the 5th century B.C., the ancient Greeks used horses to provide physical therapy for injured soldiers, they already knew the power of horses in therapy. Another interesting fact is that when a human sits on a horse’s back at the walk, the rider’s body imitates the motion of a human walking normally.
The Fire Trinity and the Sex of Scorpio (8th house)
- Mars ruling Aries and the 1st house versus Mars co-ruler of Scorpio and 8th house
Not that every era was perfect, but the pre-Christian era was hardly seen as an era of prejudice against homosexuality for some historians, at least not at the same level found nowadays. Yet the coming of the Romans, history of homosexuality and the accommodation of masochism of greater order took a gutsy turn. The distortion between what a man should morally stand for in a sexual role needed to be seen with aggressiveness, isolating passiveness, saying it is a result of weakness.
This conversation should be extended. The Mars ruling Aries and the 1st house is one totally different from Mars ruling Scorpio and the 8th house. Through out history, one can interpret masculinity has an intense side which is not well cunning and shaped as the intensity a women would have, yet its intensity is strong enough to dictate rules for itself in a world of possibilities, all for social standards, influence or some kind of moral obligation towards society (1st house of appearance). Author Amy Richlin contributed to University of Texas Press by writing a journal on the Roman’s view on sexuality and their army, where she points out what of the major concern of the Romans were:
“Rome used to be, and should have continued to be, active in relation to a passive empire. The image that the Romans projected from Rome as a male penetrating the rest of the world is too long and depressing to ponder here (in Amy’s brief journal in 1993). It is not anything Juvenal has invented; It is based on a tradition dating back at least to Lucílio’s time (century II AD) and, I would say, perhaps intrinsic to Roman cultural identity.” – Not before Homosexuality: The Materiality of the Cinaedus and the Roman Law against Love between Men by Amy Richlin (Journal of the History of Sexuality Vol. 3, No. 4 (Apr., 1993), pp. 523-573)
even when women were repressed by those times, the early ocidental expression of feminism are recorded in these periods of Atenas.
