Display Images, PDFs, Text and Videos instantly on any remote screen.

It’s fast, easy to use and free. And you only need a browser.

How it works

You start a session on one computer and open it on another. After a session has both a sender and a receiver, supported content can then be shared from the sender to the receiver.

A session is only identified by its URL – like frop.io/your-session, where your-session is the session key.

Using the applications below, frop.io can run on your favorite platform natively.

Platforms and Browsers

frop.io was originally built as a presentation endpoint for a RaspberryPI 2+. It runs almost anywhere.

Q&A

What content is supported?

Currently, frop.io supports all Image-Based types like JPEG, GIF (animated), PNG, TIFF and BMP. Vector types are not supported universally at the moment, though some browsers support them.

PDF is supported as a presentation format where the presenter will have a preview of the next page. Rendering is done in JavaScript and some browsers have problems doing that right, though you should be fine.

We also support textual content, that is, simple text snippets that are blown up on the Viewer to be as large as possible. That's great to share WiFi-Passwords, E-Mail adresses or an URL.

You can also share YouTube-URLs (use the full URL).

We are constantly working on more content types and dedicated extensions to allow special apps.

Why not Skype, TeamViewer or appear.in?

Disclaimer: We are big fans of all three. But in some cases, frop.io is more suitable because we submit your data only once – afterwards, there is almost no communication between your browser and our servers. Screen-Sharing services on the other hand constantly consume considerably more resources than frop.io does.

Because we send your data to the receiving screen, and not just what your screen looks like at any given moment, the quality is usually better than when using any of the products listed above.

Who can see what I'm presenting?

Your data is sent through our servers using industry standard encryption and only ever transmitted to the receiving machine. We are not caching or storing the data you present in any way, neither locally nor on any of our machines. This will never change.

Long story short: Only the presenting screen is able to see what you're sharing.

What's the technological foundation?

frop.io is built using standard web technologies - JavaScript, HTML5 and WebSockets. The server is based on Node.JS.

Dashboard Mode?

If you'd like to run frop.io on a display indefinitely (making that display the viewer open to presenters), just append ?present to the session url, as in frop.io/wall-test?present. That way the screen is ready for incoming connections at all times.
This is also the mode that's used in the tvOS and Fire TV apps. It's also the recommended mode for using a Raspberry Pi.

Who's behind this?

My name is Moritz Haarmann. I'm a software engineer from Stuttgart, Germany. frop.io wouldn't be possible without the passionate support by a lot of friends and collegues wo keep giving awesome feedback.

Privacy Policy

frop.io comes without a privacy policy at the moment. Be sure that we are not storing, processing or analyzing any user-related data in strict accordance with applicable German and EU regulations.
