President Trump tweeted this morning after his meeting with German chancellor Angela Merkel, saying that the “fake news” is playing up too much tension and declaring that Germany “owes vast sums of money to NATO” and the United States.
The press particularly picked up on the awkward moment when Trump seemingly ignored Merkel’s suggestion they shake hands for a photo op.
Yesterday one German reporter challenged Trump on his use of the phrase “fake news” when he himself has publicly thrown out unproven claims.
Trump tweeted the following this morning:
Despite what you have heard from the FAKE NEWS, I had a GREAT meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Nevertheless, Germany owes…..
