Child Custody & MGTOW (self.MGTOW)

Long story short, I'm going through a breakup after 12 years. Unmarried, 2 kids.

Mistakes were made.

I love my kids (3yo and 7yo). During this breakup, I'm struggling to find reasons why I should want more than occasional visitation with them. Can I still "Go My Own Way" with 50/50 custody instead of just occasional weekends? How is that even possible? Or am I just being a selfish asshole and MGTOW + Single Dad are not compatible?

Has anyone here gone through this in their past?
