It's unfortunate that your experience soured the day before we add new mods (3 tomorrow and 3 in two weeks) which include many on your Good Guy List.

I agree the sub is shit. Like you said - there's a war going right now and it's not just the pages you see - it's what goes on in the background as well.

My advice? Unsub and don't check back until April 1st. I'm sure some of the more level headed mods can help you if you want it (a few mod both this place and that place).

Just know that the board is fluid and in flux and there's far more going on there than many realize.

I didn't mean to sour the day for you all, but there's no perfect time like now. I'll still be lurking there because I enjoy some of the users and content, but I won't be adding anything of value from here on out. I thought this would be a good sub to air my grievances since I've been lurking here too and like what I see. I'm also familiar with some of the users here and I know my post won't fall on deaf ears. I'd rather post it in /r/conspiracy because they deserve that, but I can't.

No worries. I flaired your post as Discussion. It is one we all should have had (and done something about) 6 months ago.

Tis a shame this post is being heavily down voted.

From a mod position, can you explain within constraint what exactly the deal with /conspiracy is? I don't go often because I find the community a bit difficult to navigate, to put it lightly.

I'm not one for censorship but the devolution of /conspiracy and surrounding subs bothers me. It's ironic that a sub that spends so much time accusing itself of shilling and disinfo is so inundated with dead leads. I suppose when you let anybody post any time people will see how far they can take it before it's obvious they're talking out their ass. edit: This applies to pretty much any sub above some critical size.

This is so glad to hear. I haven't posted in a long time or even visited. I unsubbed and made a res link so I can visit when I want. The war between trump shills and CTR shills got so out of hand. Used to be a great place where I could post a contrarian view and get a reasonable debate going. Last time I posted something that disagreed with a highly upvoted post I was at negative 20 in less than 2 hours and had comments that were mostly calling me an idiot or a shill. So I stopped posting except on rare occasions when I felt brave.

Knowing people like you are on it and trying to make it better gives me reason to believe it will be better.

As someone going on thier 4 year anniversary in that sub soon, I've gotten two pms this week from new members that were so angry and delusional, that they actually made me mad at the sub entire. I'm not going to say I haven't sunk to partisan issues since October, but yeah, there has definitely been a moderator issue for the past year.

New recruits start tomorrow, FWIW.

[–]redditeditard 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (1子コメント)

Is there going to be an announcement? Can I ask who the new folks are?

[–]JamesColesPardon 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yes. And no - you have to wait.

But they are mentioned in OP...

Taken at face value, that's ugly.

[–]wellfasted 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (12子コメント)

Yea. Fuck that sub. Its dead. Actually...reddit is dead. The sub's are only as strong as their mod team and eventually, the mod team is bought off or forced out.

Arron Swartz was murdered by the satanists.

Don't for one minute think that once this sub reaches critical mass, it won't be subverted either with money or with threats. It will.

It won't.

We built it to be immune to the entry and mid level tactics and hold the keys (still).

If the admins want you shut down, they will shut you down. True?

[–]JamesColesPardon 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (8子コメント)

Of course. But why would this little sub deem to be shut down by admins?

[–]redditeditard 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (2子コメント)

Either alt-right Anti-Semitism or Pizzagate enthusiasts would be my guess. Some say the amount of pro-Trump content, but it would have to be extreme content to get the whole sub shutdown.

Luckily, the sub gets enough attention from bloggers and gossip sites that I think it makes it a "value" to reddit.

It does?

[–]redditeditard 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

The Verge, Vice, Gawker, Buzzfeed, etc. have all linked to the sub. I'm freaking quoted on a blog with a comment about the "tard" in my handle.

Truth.

It's not like we couldn't fire this place back up any way.

/u/CelineHagbard did the math with me a few weeks ago. I could easily throw down for it if necessary.

rReddit died with Aaron I'm well aware of that, but there are still some minds worth saving. Lots of them. So here I am still.

The sad part is that this rift started with a gentle warning that you are being unnecessarily abusive to people. Calling them chat bots, Kool aid drinkers, children in need of recess and the first warning you got about it you immediately get confrontational about it.

My offer still stands, all you need to do is agree to follow our rules and everything gets reversed. In fact the ban wasn't even necessary because all you originally had to do was acknowledge the warning.

There is no war between you and I ragecry, you're at war with yourself alone. The only person you're fighting and the only person responsible for your ban is you.

It saddens me when you make a post and successfully hook some interested readers, let's use your "Wikileaks has lost all credibility" post for example, and one reader in particular responded with a question asking what evidence you have that Wikileaks has lost its credibility. Here is your chance to educate someone about your theory and possibly bring them over to your way of thinking. Instead you simply tell them they drank the koolaid.

You either don't really care about your own theory or you're just too lazy to bother talking about it. So what's the point of posting it if you as the OP are going to mock people who decided it was interesting enough to talk about?

And then with me and my gentle warning, you get super defensive and want to argue about that as well.

This farewell is embarrassing because all you need to do is agree to not be abusive to people and follow the rules. No need for a dramatic farewell when you can just suffer a little self reflection and move right on with life being a little less abrasive.

Good luck.
