A mobile DM needed? (self.reddevils)

After this season seeing how effective an energetic DM can be in allowing other players to flourish should this be the type of player we go for to get the most from pogba and the rest of the team? If so what does everyone think of Idrissa Gueye?

I know we have other areas we want to improve but DM needs improvement imo.

I know the argument is that we need to be more clinical, score more rather than concede less but I feel like that is something a player like that could allow us to do. We would be able to commit more men forward without fear of a counter with a mobile DM.

There are perhaps a few arguments that it isn't the right player such as we lose a lot of height, maybe he isn't the best option...

    He did, but Chelsea didn't have CL they just paid more. He was gone from Leicester anyway just a case of where.

    I think that what everyone has in mind for TFM a midfield destroyer. Bakayoko from Monaco would be a mourinho fit in terms of being a big imposing player in that role like matic is for Chelsea.

    I think we need more of a defensive anchor man than a mobile midfielder since carrick is retiring and all. Herrera is the aggressive ball winning type, we need someone who sits in front of the back 4, sweeping up second balls, knock downs, prevent counter attacks etc

    This is the thing, I think if we bought a mobile ball winner then we could do all that bar the heading but I think you could have the CB come mop up.

    Herrera has been great this season but I don't think he is a pure ball winner and sometimes his positioning is off. I think a more defensively minded player with energy would give us more options.

    I think we need both types TBH. Our midfield depth is quite poor if u think abt it. We have pogba, Herrera, carrick, Fellaini who are good enough to be starting for us. (Bastian + TFM can play but not good enough imo). We need some signings in the summer in the midfield position)

    I think he still needs a few years to develop. But he would definitely be an option and I think he has the ability. Otherwise I think he could be backup to Valencia next season.

    I guarantee that mou will use him at RB 90 percent of the time, but it kills me to see him play there.

    Idrissa Gueye is a great shout. He's the only player to have made more tackles than Kante this season in PL. Obviously, stats don't show everything. Even last season, at Villa, remember stan collymore raving about him, and said a top club should sign him. Closest you'll get to Kante by far in PL. Not too sure how good his passing is though.

    Personally think we need 2 CMs, defensive minded one, then another in mould of Herrera. Play two of them with Pogba to get best out of him.

    This is the thing, I think he is good enough to play for us. Yeah, he would need to further improve certain areas but I think he could do that.

    The real problem we have with playing a 433 is you need the wingers to contribute to goals a lot more than they have this year. Where as if you went to a 4231 with a 10 then we have more players forward so the goals are shared more between the team. But I do agree that this formation gets the best out of Pogba.

    Agree, specially on needing goalscoring wingers. We have them, just not getting enough. Mkhi has been recently. Need Martial to score much more.

    My fear is though that to score more goals by playing just 2 in midfield, it prevents giving Pogba the freedom. And after spending so much on him, surely you have to build the team around him. And if we are to compete for CL in next few years, we have to play 3 in midfield.

    Other option is to play Pogba as CAM in a 4231? With deeper CMs?
