Let's look at it objectively. Hazard was getting fouled all day, Jones ran into the back of him. Ref called over smalling to tell him next foul is a booking.

What happens 1 minute later? Herrera clipping hazard. He had to book him.

Put the boot on the other foot with no bias and imagine if they had been clattering rashford all day? We would be calling for the yellow all day.

The first yellow was very soft - Herrera just didn't move out of the way and Hazard ran into him. Possibly a foul but nothing more. When you think Ander has been sent off for that + a straightforward trip, it seems ridiculous.

With that said, he knew he was on a yellow, that the ref was getting frustrated with fouls on Hazard and that he was unlikely to get the ball, so it was a stupid thing to do.

I'm going to be in the minority here and say that I actually think Oliver has been pretty fair. We've gotten booked more but we've also committed many more fouls. The only bookable one Chelsea should've had was when Cahill dragged Rashford down but that was mostly due to a slip by Cahill so it wasn't egregious.

Herrera in no way, shape, or form should've committed that second foul. It was stupid to do on a yellow. Point blank put the team in a risky position by losing his head. Worst is that Hazard played into the foul. He knew he would beat Herrera and draw a foul. Herrera should've known Hazard was going to try that as soon as play resumed.

Overall, I think we're doing well. Anything can happen against Hazard-Costa-Willian (plus Fabregas will likely come on) so there's a long half to come. I'm just hoping Rashford can get a good run over the top and beat David Luiz to nick a goal.

As they have been in every game this season, the referees are against us. We play against 12 men every single week. It's beyond ridiculous at this point.

I have no idea what formation we're playing, but honestly I'm impressed with the team today. Outside of the red card, everyone is doing their jobs and they look like a unit. We won't be perfect this season, but you can see the improvement from the first game.
