Those who want Bitcoin will be "saved" from using central entities to hold them. It will motivate people to buy and hold themselves, which is a great thing and is a very positive outcome for decentralization and moving away from the existing banking cartel.

The intense ETF hype didn't really get into full swing until after the price was over $1000. There is genuine demand for Bitcoin so it's not surprising to me that the price hasn't crashed more dramatically.

I agree with this sentiment.... but now tell me how to hold BTC with my retirement funds? That's what I was hoping for with the ETF. (Yes, I'm in GBTC with my Roth IRA, but for some reason I can't get into it with other accounts.)

Interesting perspective.

I truly believe that the implosion of Mt. Gox was a good thing for Bitcoin in the long term. It did an excellent job of demonstrating just how important of a factor counterparty risk is in the grand scheme of things.

After Gox, people truly understand that "If you don't (exclusively) hold the private keys, you don't own the Bitcoin." This prevents "paper bitcoin" from flooding the market and diluting the value of "real bitcoin" and keeps the 21M cap sacrosanct.

Perhaps, for the same reasons, the ETF denial will help in the same way.

I absolutely agree even though i currently hold close to 0 bitcoins. I do own a lot of ether and I dislike the overall happiness coming out of Ethereum Enterprise Alliance. I thought the idea was to leave big banks and corps in the dust, not invite to slow us down?

Actually most bitcoin markets are regulated quite well. What SEC claims is a joke, the major exchanges are subjected to laws and regulations - just ask the Chinese. Some of the markets are just not regulated by US standards, but this is true for many other markets as well.
